Green Party desire to ban game shooting.

I still recalll the first squirrel I shot from the Sanatorium window and with a green-eyed marble. Technically it was poaching and no doubt illegal but frankly it's been a very long time indeed since I've experienced quite the same adrenaline rush and sense of satisfaction when nailing a critter with a licenced firearm.

If the Green Party were to take away the need for a FAC I'd most certainly be forming an orderly que outside Woolworths with my OAP discount voucher to grab a Milbro catapult.

You'd have a job Woolies went years ago.
I have to say the Green Party Manifesto commitment on shooting is exactly what I predicted would happen if English Nature, BASC and DMQ's BMQ's and pigeon Certificates were allowed to proliferate. Most people dont care but our job and that of those who repsresent us is to create a populist and popular culture that admits shooting by all as a natural and valued means of controlling pests and personal enjoyment.
What a worthless society if everything was re-wilded and you needed a licence and a certificate to lethally control anything - Denmark is close, I could always go there where life seems to be as it should be here - apart from the ignoring of EU factory farming rules.

I don't think the plan to just have deer culling by Government trained employees is viable financially. How many "trained hunters" would you need to keep all the deer populations at a healthy and sustainable level where they don't impact unduly on habitat? In many places they do that now. Would they be liable if they don't control populations and they cause road accidents?

And what about fox control, seeing as they have already banned fox hunting and will ban any sort of trap? There's a pile more of the government funds going on those "trained hunters" to go foxing. Foxes are able to colonise pretty much any sort of habitat in the UK now. Good luck to them, but they're doing that whilst being controlled in many areas. What are the repercussions of a rampantly out of control fox population?

Pretty much the same as all political parties really these days. Enact laws that pander to their own political beliefs, whether it's right for the country or not. I really do hate politicians of all varieties at the moment. As Wolfy Smith said: "Power to the people!"

Just a random thought here guys, but brexit, the referendum, and the subsequent failure to implement, and the resultant apathetic response of the 17.4 odd million people ,,[so far] has sent a clear message to gubment in general,, they can pretty much promise any damn thing with no intention or credible plan to carry it out, while engineering a system whereby gen pop will be more controlled, more restricted, and obviously more taxed.
I know of quite a few people both here and in real life who have voiced the opinion that while they may be older, they are pleased that when they were fit and able they lived the life they chose, to hunt, fish and not have to hide it from others and although their time is short they will not have to suffer the restrictions or possible curtailment of that they carried out with such freedom.

to put it rather bluntly, in the next half decade we are going to be **** upon and dissolved like never before.
so while you still can,,, do whatever makes you happy and gives you a reason to get up at silly o.clock. and just "do it" as many of us have since we were weaned.

Where necessary for ecological reasons, humane culling will be licensed by Natural England and carried out by trained professionals.

Oh its ok for sanctioned shooters but not you lot....C***S.

I really hope when the world famine strikes that they all die (greens)

I'm up for CCCL1. Lets say 10-shots standing at 20 yards and to group within a 3" circle?

I am always curious about these items on political agendas - are they really that important that they need to form a central part of a manifesto? Are there not more pressing issues like the NHS, Schools, Housing and a host of other things.

It does strike me that if this is something that is that important to them they are not really living in the real world and are not going to deal with the significant issues.

I might well be wrong and happy to be corrected but that is just how i have always seen it.

Surely though DSC 1 / 2 would be central to the licensing system in a similar way to the Fit and Competent Certification in Scotland which allows a wider scope of operation. Or would we need more / different training.

We will just end up with more 'professionals'

A word of caution from the up here in the Kingdom of wee jimmy krankie and the Scottish Nasty Party...…… Please don't forget that the Green MSP's hold a bit more power than they should (despite the fact that none of them were voted in on a first past the post basis - all "list" MSP's). So as they are keeping the SNP in power, they have a disproportionate amount of say on policy here at the moment and as such can wheel out their envy and hatred driven agenda with the support of the SNP. Hence the never ending reviews of snares/hunting with dogs/general licences/grouse moors etc..... But of course never anything about the continued sale of Scottish land to foreigners - as long as they're not English of course!
