Thank you. Hard to say as I prepared 8x blanks at the same time, some similar but with less than full grinds and a couple of bushcraft scandis. The full flat grind took the longest....rough guess 20/25 hours? Thanks for the post

Out of interest what made you go for the full grind vs scandi?
I have just finished my 2x72 grinder and will be making a bevel jig shortly.

Hi Milligan. To be honest I went with a full flat grind just to see what would happen and also in the hope that the knife would be a better slicer. Not tried in anger yet but on that depth of blade the full flat gives a very shallow bevel angle.

I also made a couple of bushcraft type blanks with scandi grinds. An absolute doddle compared to the other! Even managed one entirely free hand (which is something I'd like to be able to do much better in the future). It does take practice though....the first few tries on mild steel came out with a big floppy smiley face grind line, not pretty. I also made one with a concave bevel...rounding a bevel is really easy, doing it uniformly is certainly not!

Yes the DC website is pretty cool in many ways...hats off to the guy who runs it. Good luck with your efforts mate

Also, forgot to add, I had real trouble getting good results with the old angle iron bevel jig with just a bolt for angle changing. They tip easily and are pretty inconsistent IMO. Then again seen loads use them successfully on youtube. But have a look at the one I mentioned too...not that tricky to knock up a similar thing, though I used steel instead of aluminium as it's all I had

Thanks. I am planning on making a bevel jig but using 2 brass screws to keep it level (without tipping) and not eat the tool rest.
