Jelen Deer Services Promotional Video

IT DOES THE JOB,NICE VIDEOING,i KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE DONT APROVE OF SHOOTING IN PARKS ETC,I HAVE BEEN A DEERSTALKER ALL MY DAYS AND EVERY ONE TO THERE OWN,THE FARMERS SAY TO ME THEY LOVE THERE LIVE STOCK,AND I SAY WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THEM,SELL THEM,YOU LOVE THEM THAT MUCH YOU SELL THEM TO BE SLAUGHTERED THATS HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM,i THINK DEER FARMING IS SPOT ON FOR HELPING PEOPLE IN TRAINING AND THE NOT SO FIT TO HAVE HELP AND GUIDANCE.THEY HAVE A MUCH BETTER LIFE THAN LIVESTOCK AND DESPATCHED WITHOUT FEAR,LOVELY ANIMALS,

ALL THE BEST ROB

Hi Rob,

Many thanks for your kind words, and may I say brilliant to see a comment from somebody who appreciates that deer are still deer, whether they are farmed, emparked or wild.

You are right in that the controlled environment (park/farm) is an excellent and unique training environment for those wishing to become involved with deer management.

Also, I know head shooting can be an emotive subject amongst many deer stalkers, and whilst some people perhaps find the images disturbing, the fact is that these deer knew nothing of their despatch - didn't even hear the bang - and as you say, a much better life than most farmed livestock.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and have a great Hogmanay.

Regards,

Mike

Excelent video Mike, Was it edited by Carmen?
ATB Barry

Hi Barry,

Thanks for your kind words. Nope the video was edited exclusively by me! (with remote advice from my lovely daughter, Carmen). We're hoping to put together a series of new videos for 2011 in various deer management subjects.

Hope you had a great Christmas, and have a great Hogmanay.

Let me know when you're gonna be down South next!! ...... And when you do, bring your rifle!

Best regards to you and the girls,

Mike.

Hi, Mike - just found your video. Great piece of work, looking forward to your next one and can hardly wait to come back down next season for some more..... Bill.

Hi Mike,
A quick question.... I have watched the video a couple of times now, when you dart the Red Hind the dart seems to flash, is it a trick of the light or does it actually flash ?
If it does, what is this dart as i have never seen a dart flash before,
cheers, Pete.

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to say pretty much the same as everyone else in that the video was gleaming and I hope that you and your family had a great Christmas.
Hope to see you soon in Eleven.
Regards
Paul

Hi Pete,

Hope you and the family are well.

You are right in that what you see on the video. The 'flash' is the dart being detonated inside by inertia-activated hammer striking a small explosive charge (pyrodex) which injects the drug.

This is the standard injection 'mechanism' of PNEUDART darts. In the poly darts - which are constructed of clear polycarbonate, you can see this effect even better giving you a clear indication of injection, especially in poor light.

The beauty of these darts is that they are disposable, relatively inexpensive, highly accurate and incredibly reliable.

We are putting together a series of new DVD's for 2011, one of which will feature live capture in depth.

Hope to speak to you soon.

Best regards, and best wishes for 2011.

Hi 375 mag,

Thanks for your comments, and I appreciate that the contents of the video may not be to some people's 'tastes', however if images of humane CULLING of deer offends genuine deer stalkers/managers, then I would say that the offended 'genuine' deer stalker/s and deer manager/s have somehow missed the point here.

Finally, with respect, if you are insinuating that the images on this video are the product of a 'canned hunt', then you are clearly viewing this video from a completely different angle to everyone else. This footage is a demonstration of the incredibly high standard of marksmanship combined with the crucial animal welfare considerations in the management of park/farmed deer. If you are unable to see that, then perhaps selling your guns might not be a bad idea mate!

Do you have a .30-06 that shoots straight? ......... I might be interested!

Mike

Ads

Adam, its always ME, ME, ME with YOU isn't it! .............. I asked first!

Mind, if it doesn't shoot straight enough to do consistent head shots ............. Then I don't want it!!

Have a great New Year mate, and I'll see you soon.

Mike

Many thanks for your reply, your apology (accepted) and your explanation of why you may have inferred that what you were seeing was a 'canned hunt'.

In actual fact, the deer on the video were not stalked. They were culled by members of our management team placed in strategic positions to ensure that the deer were shot safely, humanely and cleanly. There was never any suggestion throughout the video that any 'hunting' of any kind took place, and certainly no 'trophies' were taken.

Both our management team and I take what we do very seriously indeed - This is my full-time job, and my livelihood depends on us doing it well. So in this respect I am sure you understand why I am quick to defend what may be taken out of context.

I too love to earn my shot whilst stalking for sport, so I can assure you I am with you 100% on that one, but what you viewed on our video is certainly not that. It is simply members of our team carrying out essential culling work, and I am very proud of what they achieve under sometimes less than satisfactory conditions.

However, I appreciate your honest response.

Regards, & Happy New Year,

Mike
