Full moon = sleepless nights

Is anyone else suffering with this odd phenomenon during the last few days? I am 69 so maybe older folk get affected more from it.

A hight percentage of the human body is water, if a full moon can pull the tides to their highest point each month then some prob do feel the effects. A guy in work used to be a right moody git full moon.

Couple things could be going on.

First - if you are light sensitive like I am, a full moon can clearly provide too much light for a deep sleep.

Second - some folk have (diagnosed or not) Seasonal Affective Disorder, manifested as minor depression during winter when they are not receiving enough light. A bright moon may be providing enough light to somewhat reverse that (temporarily) more or less acting as a trigger to a short bit of internal chemical stimulation.

Or - like McKenzie said - you may have been bitten by a werewolf (or some other were-canid) and be going through your first change. You're not waking up covered in blood, with freshly slaughtered livestock appearing in nearby pastures, are you?

Yep, same here BB, always. It'll pass in a day or two though thankfully. In the summer I'm laying in bed waiting to hear the first bird stir, with windows that look directly toward the sunrise ( - before 0400 or so in midsummer up here), but a bit of a sloth in the winter, SAD also, which doesn't help a team this time of year! 57 next month, so not quite over the hill just yet, but I can see the summit!

Much the same here too (58 this month). I'm usually very active but from mid December to mid January I find the spring missing from my step & I'm quite happy to hibernate. I don't have the sleep disturbance from the moon but come the second half of January & the daylight increasing I find myself raring to go again.

Interestingly enough yes. I'd put it down to alcohol withdrawal after 2 weeks of daily drinking over the festive period. Maybe there is more to it? We'll see how tonight goes, its Friday and there is wine with my name on it for later. No doubt I'll have complaints from the wife tomorrow about the volume of my snoring again!

Or a lunatic like my sister!

Fox fever :), for me at least.
Shooting over bait all winter, full moon and snow crystals glittering. Add a fully pelted adult fox gliding in to the bait, makes the sleepless hours and minus degrees worth it.

I worked in a pub in Wembley in 1981. Across the road lived half a dozen Irish lads that, unusually, liked a drink :-|. One morning after a full moon they all came in to the pub black and blue all properly beaten up. After a couple of beers they opened up and told the story of an almighty brawl between them. They were best mates. None of them knew what kicked off and their only explanation was the moon.
