Hi everyone,
Has anyone on here done the admq with jelen deer services?
How was the course? What did it cover? Are there any practical elements to it?
Sorry for all the questions, it's something I have thought about doing for a while and really want a bit more info before booking on. Any info would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Dave.

Done it..... highly recommended it!!!!....it goes above and beyond anything you learn on dmq and you'll learn a hell of a lot...
There may be a bit of shooting but that depends on time and weather....
I suggest you do it, you wont regret it.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply, sounds like a good course. What was covered and is there any materials that can be studied in advance of the course? Thanks for you help.
Dave

There is also a BDS Deer Management Course - Deer Management Course
I'm aware of one Forum member who has done both courses. The BDS one no longer has a shooting test.
I did the BDS training course when it was run in Scotland after waiting for a number of years for either of these courses to venture north of the Border.
Best regards
JCS

I had to do some home study "tests" prior to the course.... but nothing difficult.... and it was mainly to get you primed for study..

The course covered many things... its aimed at people who actually want to manage deer and not just stalk them...
I suggest you ring Mike at the office and have a chat... he's very approachable and as the course material may of changed slightly since I did mine (jelen pws constantly improve and update their courses... which is good for us)... he can give you a better idea of course content.
I still go back to my training manual that came from the course from time to time and I manage deer as a job!....

I've done a few courses with Jelen pws and can hand on heart say I've always enjoyed them and come away alot more knowledgable than when I went... worth every penny.

I did mine with Jelen. Mike has good facilities and a good team. For me it was well worthwhile as It gave me that extra knowledge and with that comes confidence.
A short while after I completed that course I managed to gain the Deer Control for a big Landowner and Ive got to say that this course was a big factor in attaining it. There was no shooting test, but there was plenty of field work and access to Park deer. Wild, Park and farmed Deer was all covered in the course. As for prior studying, once you have signed up you will receive a USB stick which covers the course, also you will have 12 home assignments to complete and send back prior to attending.
I cant recommend Mike at Jelen highly enough, He has also helped me in other ways. Great value for money you wont regret it.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, it's great to hear that the course is worthwhile, any more information about it or what to expect would be great

I done the bds course a couple of year back in Wiltshire it used to be a 5 day course but they condensed it down to 3 that was with Dominic griffith what that fella don't know ain't worth knowing, very intense course but like others say well worth doing
He’s not too hot on taking safety/shot briefs though mate .

I done mine with the BDS 18 months ago and it was excellent. The only slight negative is it should
Really be five days and not three as there is soo much to learn and take in. But still very very good
