Stalking locked down?

Regardless of the risks it sound like you think that going out stalking is far more important than listening to and taking notice what the government has ordered FOR OUR OWN PROTECTION AND SURVIVAL? If people are not prepared to listen to and abide by what we have been told to do by the government there could well be a lot more tighter laws made, and pretty soon!

What the government is trying to achieve is physical distancing.

I think that most members here are fiercely independent & thinking countrymen. Infinately responsible & trustworthy (having had to prove that frequently so as to be able to enjoy our pastime)
Happy with our own thoughts and in our own company.
Glad to be able to be solitary & away from all the bloody humbug of daily drivel that can sometimes intrude upon our lives.
Now, we are as mad as hell to suddenly be told what to do & how to behave!
It's good for the imagination to be able to invent & share all manner of devious means to circumvent these new "rules" ;) 😷😷😷😷

We know what we have to do.

that sounds like you are encouraging people to not respect the lockdown. If I’m wrong then apologies but if you are why would you do this?

I honestly do not for one minute think that there are going to be any winners in the case of this Coronavirus and some of the losers will almost certainly be the health service workers. While they are prepared to literally put their lives on the line to do all they can to try to keep the health service from collapse and minimise the spread of this evil disease it really is up to us to do our bit too and show some responsibility in the way we now live and behave. It's nothing at all to do with "Corbynism" (I personally can not stand the sight of him let alone listen to his voice and the carp that he comes out with), Communism or anything like that. This Coronavirus is a very real and serious threat to life, and it's going to get much worse before we see any light at the end of the tunnel so it's down to everyone of us to be the sensible, intelligent and responsible people that we have always professed to be - The time has come to do what the government have told us to do without trying to find "loopholes" or excuses!

The science is simple - the Virus can’t move - it is people that move it from one person to the next. You can be asymptotic and still spread the virus. The UK has quite an elderly population - if people don’t stay at home and flatten the curve the NHS will be overwhelmed. If this happens scenes similar to Italy or worse will occur in weeks. NHS doctors will have to make life or death decisions as to who gets a respirator or not. Stay at home! Pro

We have been dealing with this virus day in and day out in the Accident and Emergency department. Everyone in the department has had to pull overtime to make up for sickness and fill in for staff who have been told to isolate as they are at risk. We are all knackered, both emotionally and physically and the worst of it is still yet to come. I'm sure this feeling is echoed across every hospital in the UK.

All of us in the NHS would really appreciate everyone to just stay in. Minimise the risk to yourself and others. And I dont mean just the virus. Now is not the time to be having to present to hospital with any injury, I.e. a slip of the gralloching knife, a misstep on the highseat ladder rungs, or an RTA which may or may not be your fault not the way to your grounds.

To put it into perspective, half of our accident and emergency department has been devoted to purely dealing with patients with covid symptoms, and this is expected to increase to the whole department. That means we have less than half the capacity to deal with anything else right now - as each covid bay demands it's own set of staff wearing full PPE (the type provided is pathetic compared to almost every other country).

While stalking may well be considered exercise, it is inherently more risky than just a walk around the fields. For this reason, despite the fact that a good stalk sounds like the best way to wind down after a long shift at work, my guns will be staying in their cabinet until we have a handle on this.

But I am not here to dictate to anyone what they can and cannot do. Just putting my perspective/opinion out there.

As a registered food business selling direct to the public and being a self employed and wholly lone worker, living and (hitherto) working in a remote area, should I turn away people looking for a safe food form from a safe source (I can assure you I'm not coming into contact with those who buy from me in the circumstances: pre ordered and packaged, left in a pick up box at the appropriate time, no physical or even proximity contact whatsoever at time of uplift, bank transfer is safer than waving a card over a machine anyway)?

a) should I tell people not to buy my food, but to go get theirs (and the rest) from the mass circulation soup-ermarkets?

b) should I not help my fellow man, but take a FUJIMA attitude and eat it myself? Or is it ('my' food supply) that is not essential? I know that the very few customers I have are of the mind that on balance they regard 'my' food supply a safer bet than risking the supermarket, should they shun such a 'safe' option? Consider too, they are leaving nothing here, I don't contact them physically nor downwind, nor do they touch anything else. Even in a worst case scenario, surely it is better for what is left of society that in the event that they were indeed a vector, it is better that they do not go to the supermarket and risk others?

My entire chain of production has been all-vertical for years, I don't even buy carcasses from others, it's just me and my 'lost property' dog, who only works the dusk shift, and even then only gets out from the car when he is needed, which ain't that often, more often than not his duties are seat polishing and vehicle security. No more markets meantime and for the foreseeable future, which I'm fine about, a box scheme is a possibility, but I'd prefer not to go to the post office ( in my view a potent-place of potential-proximity-problem-passing!), though I might consider to permit the man from DPD to uplift packages, providing it can be done without making any physical or proximity contact? Trust me, I've done the Risk Assessment and identified the critical control hazard/risk points, and any uplift appointments made by my customers are just that, uplift without contact, at prearranged times, I do not have an open gate policy to casual potential buyers, even known ones, visitors by appointment only.

Is it essential work? As our most frightening dentist would ask, "Is it safe?"

I believe that you could be slightly wrong there. What I believe that the government is trying to do (And I accept that it is just my opinion/translation of the situation, and I could well be wrong) is to slow down and control the spread of Corvid-19 and save the NHS from going into melt down!

Edit: If people are going to ignore or make excuses to try to get round what the government has told us we MUST do then in a short time I see a situation where the army will be called in to enforce what the government are trying to achieve - To try to slow down and control the spread of Corvid 19!

After having spent 4.5 months notgoing outdue to operations , I never wanted to stay home again.
I have the perfect place to go out to and on here said I would continue to do so.
That is now shelved, just going on last visit to estate to knock Maggie's on head and bring in traps. The sods are getting another reprieve just like last year with WJ and just as other birds including wild game were increasing. It grieves me to cease control.
However, that's it now last visit to work and just hope I survive long enough to see another season.
As a miserable spoil sport of an ancient git I would encourage everybody on here to do the same. BE SENSIBLE!! :old:

It’s through the actions of a minority that we are where we are today. The most powerful tool we have to stop the spread of this virus is ourselves. The NHS can’t stop this, they can only try their best to treat the infected. The Government can’t stop this, they can only put measures in place to restrict the transmission. Only WE the public can STOP this by following the restrictions that have been put in place. STAY AT HOME. It can’t be put any simpler, can’t it?

And I hope people listen to what you say. Best of luck to you and all your hard working colleges.

You’re allowed out once a day for exercise.

I make that one outing stalking per day......
Guys,
We are at war, the enemy is a nasty little virus that will slowly suffocate you and your loved ones over a couple of days. It has no boundaries ,follows no rules and respects no one.
Let's not behave like a bunch of asshole senior counsel looking for loop holes in the fine print we can exploit to carry on as normal, stay in, stay away and stay safe.

I can’t agree more, like it’s been said, IF IT FEELS NORMAL YOU ARE NOT DOING RIGHT. Day to day life at the moment should feel far from normal.

My take on this is that if you are a primary food producer and can continue to operate without putting others at risk (eg, without leaving your own property, or without visiting public areas) then you are duty bound to carry on. The nation has to eat.
However, recreational stalkers and those that have to travel to their ground should stop. (Unless the point is reached where there is no other way to feed your family).

Day to day life on a farm is business as usual right now. It hasn't changed one jot.
Even on the domestic side there's nothing changed yet, but we'll notice the difference if / when we run out of flour.
