Out stalking during restrictions

Use common sense, as is stands there is nothing illegal about going out and doing what i need to providing it follows from what Boris said, example, deer with disease or a fox in the lambing field, both of which are going to cause issues to the farmer and could there for be deemed essential, there words not mine. I will only go out if i absolutely have to, as we all know lambing is upon us so if there's a fox that gets a taste of lamb there's only 1 way to stop it taking them!

Ah good, I see. No to recreational stalking then. That accords with my understanding of the PM's clear instruction to stay at home. Quite agree about a fox in the lambing field, but I guess that going out for a nights lamping would not be using common sens.

Quite correct, it was the licensing manager who explained. I also know the 'uniformed branch' rather well and have already spoke to the ones on this beat so as far as im concerned, il be fine

Recreational no, example, phone call saying there's a fox, more than happy in there eyes or a group of deer causing damage or possible disease, heard coughing and so on (tb is a big one here) then crack on and do what needs to be done in a safe, clean way with minimal-no contact

If stopped, and just on the grounds of coronavirus: could my rifle be confiscated, FAC be revoked or future FAC validation/extension be refused ?

I expect the answer will be potentially all of the above, but I thought it worth the question. I will keep members posted.

Like others have said , Lambing I see the possible need, Deer Stalking I would get in writing before stepping out , imho clear guidelines are important when approached from PC Plod and I don't think a chat with FEO over the phone will mean for much.

I had my answer from them this morning (see my earlier post this morning). It was made clear that there would be very unlikely any action taken against any shooter undertaking things like lambing duties where fox or corvid control was concerned or even out for a walk over their permissions as they have bigger fish to fry. Uniform do apparently liaise with the FEOs/Licensing manager on such issues. The main concern they have is that people respect the advice (now instruction) to keep clear of personal contact with others. If this is not possible, don't leave the house. If it means travelling beyond a few miles, probably again, not the best idea.

I should have added that I put the question to Gloucestershire Constabulary through an online form, and got an extremely quick response that it had been passed to Firearms. So the reply will be 'in writing', and if it is in anyway favourable, I will definitely have a copy on me with their form number on it (they call it a CDS number, don't know what CDS stands for)

Interesting. I've spent several hours reading this and the other threads and have concluded that I will examine my own conscience and act accordingly.
