DSC 1 Learning Material By Email- Stuck in Africa

I am currently stuck in Chad Africa, with no return date home, so looking to fill my time constructively.

Does anyone have the DSC 1 manual in PDF/ Scanned documents etc. that they could email to me so I can begin going through the materials so I can load myself on a course when I return home?

I can paypal some cash to you or to your chosen charity as a thanks.

Only paper exams here, what work are you doing in Chad....I spoke to a guy a couple of times out there back in the early 80's on my HF set

I guess it ought to be easy enough to dismantle the booklet and run it through the scanner.
I will have a word with my IT technician (aka wife) and see what can be done.

Apparently, according to my resident expert, it's not feasible on our poor Internet connection, due to the fact that to scan the whole book would be such a massive file . It takes us ages just to send a photo.
Someone not living out in the sticks could probably manage it OK though.

I was out there working on the COTCO project for sometime on the pipeline from Doba to Kribi, up and down between Chad and Cameroon.

I think all the SD guys would be interested in how are things in Chad, are you working out there, what has the Foreign office said about getting you back (if anything) is CV19 affecting Chad and how has life changed out there. In return I will update you on the changes in my house and garden in the last 5 weeks!!!

Hi, well I've been here since January and i'm part of a team that run quite a large operation here. Things are a bit messy as all international flights suspended. FCO representatives left over a month ago (i'm in regular comms with the High Commission in Cameroon though). Things are changing rapidly and will do for the foreseeable but will just have to manage the risks- TIA. Hopefully get back to the UK for plenty of sporting!

Just stumbled across your thread and I was in the exact same boat as yourself. Stuck in Africa (Angola) for 8 and a bit weeks, throughout the start of the pandemic.

We eventually got home on a chartered flight and then back to Scotland via Amsterdam, safe travels and return home for when it comes.

I also happen to be in the exact same boat as yourself requiring DSC1 material, I checked the links Swedish sent and they look great but would massively appreciate any other material that was sent on email if you were able to share with me.

BASC do a very good online course that gives you all the questions on the DSC 1. It gives you online tests tells you the score and gives you an explanation on the questions you get wrong, you can do the tests as many times as you like I think it’s about £16 for a couple of months. It really helped me I flew through the exams pls I’m up the road locked down in Mogadishu stay safe Jimbo
