The S.H.O.T (Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trades Show) is next week in Las Vegas. This is the showcase for US and non-US manufacturers in the firearms and shooting industry. I will be attending and I'm willing to field questions directly to the manufacturers for Board members.

Since I will be there on business, not pleasure, I would like to limit the questions to the first 10 (If I do get that many) and preferably in the firearms/shooting/reloading segment of the industry as that is where I shall be working. It is a huge show and I will need to track down your requests between meetings, etc.

This show is not open to the public, and no purchases or merchandise exchange happens there. I can't pick up anything for anyone is what I'm getting at, nor will I order anything for folks. I will have access to the top dogs in the business if you have something you are curious about.

Hi Muir,
I do the same thing at the IWA in Nurnberg Germany also no sales allowed but a little does still go on. there It is bloody hard work being all day every day on your feet. I do not envy you that side of it.
My buddy asked me to go with him to Vegas but after two years of not working funds are getting tight thanks to the sub prime so I declined it.
Regards
Martin

Hi Muir - kind offer. Don't go out of your way, but if you happen to come across Jerry Stiller, you could ask him when the 25X actions are likely to go into production. Also I'd like to know when Quicksilver plan to launch the new reflex style moderators. Many thanks and enjoy the show!

I was at the show years back also the IWA absolutely fantastic, I'm sure you'll have a great time, I certainly did.

Hi Muir,
I attended a Pest Control Convention in Las Vagas a few year's ago, and had 2 weeks stay in the Venetian Hotel, "Stunning"
Where is it being held?

Been a couple of time now great place to stock up on kit and clothing.

My advice is to take a change of clothes in your carry on and two empty suit cases there is every gadget going that you can buy there.

Great place for a few days away too, I took the Mrs lots of shows and stuff for the girls to do while you are in the show spending your seasons tips.

The SHOW this year is again at the Sands Convention Center. I go every year but don't see a lick of the city except the firearms industry. It's a lot of work. I enjoy it, but it's difficult sometimes. Early morning meeting/breakfasts and then the same at the other end of the day. Lots of hustle in between.

Lots of pretty women tho.......~Muir

I caught up with Jerry Stiller yesterday afternoon and he said it was going to be next year at the earliest on the actions. I never ventured out to see Quicksilver... I was too busy!~Muir

Geordie: It's impossible unless you have a registered vendor/exhibitor who will take you in under their wing and provide the info. Attendees must wear a 4x6" name tag in a clear case that has their data bar-coded onto it. Everyone entering the show room (s) is checked by security. When are you thinking of attending??~Muir

Hi Muir
Thankyou for your reply it is just something myself and my friend have said we would like to do,he is a pilot with British Airways so flights woud be reasonable. Is it always held the last week in January as that is the last week of the gamebird and duck season here in the UK and we both tend to do a lot of shooting that week.I am coming over to the states to Illinois in three weeks so look out Cabelas Basspro and Gander mountain
Thanks again for the information

Could you find the Speer/RCBS stand, ask them nicely, if that fails beg them, and if that fails threaten them;) to re-introduce the 200grn Grand Slam bullet in .311 diameter for the 303 British.
Failing that, carry out the same procedure with Remington for them to re-introduce their old 215grn round nose 303 loads, and also make the bullet available as a component.
I hope you have a great time and don't gamble too much.

Ah Harry! Too late my friend. I returned yesterday morning. I have another avenue to Speer that I will try. I'm afraid that Remington would like to cut their production rather than expand it.

I had a great Show: I drank some seriously expensive rum ($50/ounce), ate some expensive beef ($110 a steak) and met with a lot of old friends... all on the company dime. No. I don't gamble. If you could win reliably then Las Vegas wouldn't exist, right??

The best parts of the Show: I designed a new rimfire hunting round for myself with a 42 grain bullet at 1300 fps and will receive the first prototypes in about a month (2K rounds), and I also designed a thin jacketed 180 grain HP in .454" caliber for the proliferation of 45 Long Colt/.410 ga revolvers on the market. This is a self defense bullet. I should get loaded samples by February. The best buy of the Show was 50K new, unprimed, .223 cases at a spec above shipping costs and I'll be arranging freighting on those soon. I already have a buyer for 10K of them and that will cover my shipping on the lot.

Ther were lots of pretty women there, many putting forth their best ...(ahem!)... assets. The most enduring souvenir of the Show is a case of the flu that is absolutely the worst I have had in decades. Wages of sin and greed, I guess.:D~Muir

Geordie: If you plan on coming next year (January) let me know. I will scout out some of my contacts and see if they can accommodate a guest or two. ~Muir
