Knife Sharpener Comparison

I've had the whetstone, the lansky, Edgepro and Wicked Edge Go.

I prefer the Wicked Edge Go which uses the same process as the professional version.

I've recently got the Work sharp Ken Onion edition, makes getting very sharp knives a breeze. Probably doesnt quite get the results that you can with the Wicked edge etc, but it spits all my knives out shaving sharp in a few minutes, and if I use the 6k grit belt can get pretty close to a mirror finish, plenty good enough for me. Unfortunately the Photo youve attached doesnt load for me so cant comment on its content.

I have a bit of a "thing" about sharpening, in that I find it positively therapeutic.

I have the Wicked Edge Pro, and a Tormek, and Japanese stones, and DMT diamond stones, and the Lansky system, and the Spyderco Tri-angle Sharpmaker, and the F Dick Rapid Steel, and several F Dick sharpening and polishing steels. Less like a thing, in fact, and more like a problem!

All can give good results, but personally I have settled on a combination of the DMT and a ceramic stone for when my stalking knives need sharpening, the Tormek if they need re-profiling, and the Rapid Steel for larder work.

Then there's honing, where I use the stropping leathers that Longstrider made back in the British Blades days.

Well Willie if you have a Tormek you are doing well. I'd love to have one but nowhere to put one for work. I'm assuming a T6?

Same here. Bit like jet washing the patio - something rewarding about it.

Go on the Lansky  Simple, small but so effective.

Found the wet stones so frustrating, Im glad I gave them away.

I'm embarrassed to say that I actually have two - an old Tormek Supergrind 1200 that refuses to die along with a T7 that I haven't even got round to unpacking. I expected to Supergrind to give up the ghost, but it simply carries on.

I bought a couple of accessories for my edge pro apex and they help with keeping the kit stable. Done a bit of sharpening with it lately and it's easier on tiny pocket knife blades with the small knife attachment than the wicked edge go.

I bought a wooden paddle strop with a green and a white wax block, never in my my life have I had an edge on a knife like it!!!
