Evening all,
Just had delivered the harkilla intrepid boots John Norris have on offer, seen them on sale a while but had extra 15% off so finally bought a set. Currently on there fifth coat of oil sat in utility but seem very comfy, look a hell of a boot for less than £145 just wondered if anyone had a well worked pair, for a review
Cheers chris

I've had 3 over the years, 2 were John Norris specials.

Can honestly say worst boots I've ever had, esp the last 2 pairs, were really terrible.
1st pair were really comfy but always ripped at heel, know a few others had same problem.
Even at half price not worth the money, hope it's are better

I,m on my second set off harkila boots the first pair (big game) lasted 7 years and had a lot off work. They’ve got a little hole where the toe flexes and the leathers cracked even after a lot off oiling but after 7 years I can’t complain. I brought some intrepid off John Norris last year so far so good very comfy and wearing well. The heal does seem soft like all the bad reviews say but mine are fine so far time will tell

I bought a pair last year. Found them very soft and not particularly comfortable, but the underkeeper liked them, so sold them to him. Went back to hanwags.

Harkila boots have a well deserved poor reputation. My own personal experience was they were super comfy but didn’t last 6 months before the water came in. I haven’t and won’t go back, in fact I fear their clothing also took a turn for the worse too in recent years, no longer the premium quality brand it once was.

If they do start to leak I'd invest in a pair of yeti gaiters for when they leak, I got years off extra wear out of them and dry feet, althou my last pair leaked right at the base so even yetis couldn't save them, hardly got worn at all.

Hello I bought a pair last October so far so good. Comfy and dry. Cheers Adam

John Norris generally sell good stuff. Get on their mailing list and you'll see their specials in a (at least) weekly email. There's always something in the sale and if you wait for long enough.....

But the Härkila boots, by all accounts aren't the best. I think Norris' must buy them cheap and pile them high. Their usual customer however is the driven game shooter and for that, I'd say the reasonable price makes these boots, as an alternative to wellies a fair buy, where you will only be walking as far as your peg and generally over flat ground. Having said that, a pal bought some over a year ago for traipsing about on a shoot which is anything but flat and they've been fine so far. Horses for courses really I guess. Just don't expect them to stand up to the sort of wear that the likes of Meindles will. But then, you aren't paying the price that Meindle charge.

I have the same boots off John Norris
I bought them to leave in Croatia to save me having to lug them there every year. I have had no problems with mine so far! But they have only probably been worn for 12or so weeks in the last 3 years . They do come with a 2 year guarantee if you keep the recipient .

Friends of ours (husband and wife) buy pairs of these on a regular basis. They are out beating and picking up three or four days a week during the season, and they really like them. A pair lasts perhaps two or three seasons.

I bought a pair of Harkila boots from a member of this site. They are undoubtedly the most comfortable boots I've had, and their flexibility makes them easy and quiet to stalk in. However, they're not strongly made, and I've downgraded mine to light summer duties. I now wear milsurp Haix most of the time: Cheap, warm, dry and tough, but not so comfortable or so flexible.

Got 3 pairs. They take anything that I throw at them. Keep them clean, proof them regularly and rotate them so that you always wear a dry pair.
Standard stuff that most people ignore

Iv got 6 coats of oil on now and the leather is saturated. The seem ok to be fair had a walk round in them and they fit well. Suppose il try and look after them and see how I get on. Have many people tried claiming under the warranty, if so, how did you find John Norris??
Cheers

I had a pair of big game hunters and they started leaking just before the 2 year end of warranty.
John Norris were brilliant, they contacted Harkila and i've been asked to send the boots back for a test. Couple of weeks later i got a full refund.

Harkila boots ive found are hit and miss , ive currently got about 4 pairs (for different situations) and are happy with all of them but ive also had a couple of pairs where the sole has split and they have leaked , also ive noticed with the clothing some of the sizes are all over the place ive got tops in L right through to XXL that all fit me fine , wondering if different items made by different suppliers ?
