General costs of an accompanied stalk...

Roe is £85 per outing and no kill fee.
I like the way you set your stall out. A simple question in the OP and a clear and transparent answer from yourself.
I stalk for the table, not a trophy, and pay a similar amount in the Scotish Bordes.
As you say, you can't guarantee a beast will show, but I like the idea of a "high seat" voucher, if it's a blank day.

Where are you?
I might try an outing with you when this lockdown is more relaxed.
Please PM your contact details/area for stalking.
M.

3 outings 2 clients since Friday evening. Result 3 cull bucks.
First client paid £190 that's including carcass. Second client paid £300 for 2 outings and 2 bucks. Didn't want the carcasses.
Out again this morning still waiting for client.

Client this morning was taken into two bucks. One old mature buck missed. Second buck a yearling missed.
No bucks taken. One outing fee £100.

Buck fever or poor zeroing?

Buck fever and not used to putting up those bloody quad sticks, which I dislike.
Took and associate of the clients out the following evening (yesterday) with my rifle. He had never shot a deer before, but was an ardent paper puncher, as was his colleague. Took a nice 4 point buck no problem.
Friday evening one client, 13 Roe seen, 10 bucks, 3 does, one buck grassed. Saturday one client AM and PM 2 bucks grassed. Sunday morning 2 bucks missed. Sunday evening one buck grassed, stayed on one farm and saw 3 bucks and 3 does.

Back at it from Thursday evening through to Sunday this week.

Not too shabby, even if I say so myself:)

As a newbie I am obviously paying for stalking and DSC1 etc. From my perspective each element of a stalk/stalking has a value/cost and it seems weird anyone would think any of it should come 'free'. Stalking is definitely a privilege and a luxury for me and so I have to save up for it and not spend on other stuff I might like.

To view it from a different perspective, there is a huge amount of value to the recreational stalker in not having to find and then maintain/lease a permission. £120 a day plus carcase and trophy fees 2-3 times a year is far less than the cost of a lease, time spent, setting up a larder, buying and maintaining kit required etc.

It's a massive luxury to be able to rock up and shoot someone else's animals while leaning on all their knowledge and experience of that land. For me it's also great to be able to borrow a high quality estate rifle with a S&B scope as needed and not having to lay out £3-4K on kit I'd only use a handful of times a year. Yeah I'd love my own rifle, but I can buy a lot of guided stalking for £3-4K!

You can buy an awful lot of rifle for that money as well. Buy a nice lightly used Parker Hale or BSA and a second hand scope and you probably are still well under £1K

David.

Not in the least shabby.

What are you doing with the carcasses Malcolm? Do you have a GD open your way?
S

Up to now all the clients have wanted the bucks they have shot. Most clients seem to want to keep the carcase at this time of year. Possibly because apart from Muntjac there is nothing else?
No one is taking venison at the moment round here in West Sussex. I have to make sure the estate owners have a buck this week for a BBQ.

OK thanks. Medstead Meats our GD saying July August earliest. We just shooting what we can eat or give away round village. Prob 10pc of what we will usually do tops
