Club membership query

You and I have had some correspondence quite recently via PM over this subject, and I'm glad to see you have re looked at the situation and took a positive course of action. Like I said you are not the first to be drawn in, and most of these syndicates/clubs are not really worth the time and the money. They are usually over priced and run by people with not a great deal of overall experience, although they like to claim it.

As usual with the Stalking Directory membership, you have had a great offer. That's what this site is all about, helping each other, and making friendships. So on top of this I would like to offer you a day out later this winter on CWD/Muntjac. No fees, attached, estate rifle available and the ammo.

You have my number and details, so give me a call or drop me a PM and we can sort a date out.

Hi all, Just a quick update for those who asked — I’ve now left the Capreolus Club. After initially joining and paying for one month, a change in personal circumstances meant I couldn’t continue aswell .The club requested the remainder of the annual fee (£1250) and invoiced this to me, I reviewed the terms and found no clear obligation to commit to a 12-month contract or to pay in full if leaving early, especially since I hadn’t used any of their services as essentially no services come with the membership, stalks and club days are extra. Clause 7.4 only refers to resigning after a year, not that you’re locked in for a year. I’ve responded formally and, based on consumer law and advice, I’m confident in my position. Biggest con of a company.
You did well to find the T&C on their website.

Out of interest I had a look and failed to find them at all...although it does ask you to tick a box to say you have read them when filling in their application form but no link to them.....which seems a bit suss in itself ....

All their material and business model seems aimed at cash rich time poor people - which clearly has a market.....

So many better options out there....and as previous posts show.... a lot of people on here who can offer a much better experience - either free - or for a lot less than what Mr. Jones does.

Glad to see other's being helped on there stalking journey by SD members.
I had the help and support of a great mentor on a few occasions.
The last time we went out I had altered my scope and F up big time he kept telling me do not worry we all miss.
My drive home was hell all I kept thinking about.
So go and enjoy your stalking as much as I do. 👍

Thanks for the fantastic offers and support, I will message each of you directly soon. Just to confirm, the Capreolus membership fee of £1250 basically doesn’t include anything, club days and stalks are an extra cost maybe £200- £500 extra and then also add on their fees for the type of species shot which is anything from £300 to £900. At the time of joining they don’t tell you any of this.. I presume they will try to threaten legal action for the £1250. Good luck to them, I’ve got the terms and conditions documented.

"The London-based Capreolus Club is the official members club of County Deer Stalking and was launched in Mayfair, London in April 2014. This thriving and friendly Deer Stalking club represents the finest club of its type in the UK and has over one hundred and fifty high calibre members."

They've got to pay for Mayfair parties somehow!!

Missed shot fee? That’s insane.
Well maybe 🤔
If you're being guided, the stalker has put in all the work to put you in a position to be able to take the shot. Isn't it reasonable that the client pays for that effort? The stalker could just as easily have taken the client on an armed ramble, not shown him any deer at all, and pocketed a large fee for the outing. Better for the client if the fee is broken down, even if there is the risk of having to pay for a miss. It gives the stalker more incentive to get the client on to a deer.
On the (rare) occasions that I've taken a client stalking I've charged a basic (pretty low) fee for the outing, and a shot fee on top of that. The shot fee is payable whether the carcass is recovered or not. So yes, a miss would incur a fee.
