First trip to Africa

There is hope yet for your trip.... Tanzania just announced that tourists are welcome again
It’s not the going it’s the getting there and what you have to do like isolation etc when you get there then there’s the getting back again.Much as I’d like to go back to South Africa had a trip planned for June i can’t see it happening this year.

I surposed to be in Africa now what would have been my 5th day of a 10 day hunt gutted but hopefully be able to go next year I am hoping to get up to Scotland in October for the Sika stag

June isnt going to happen. Tanzania are letting people in without restriction and no quarantine and this may be a model that other countries adopt. If every other country in the region starts saving their tourism economy then the people of RSA will not look kindly on that. I think the OP has a good chance of getting out there and being able to hunt in December.

Yes but there’s potential to have to have a 2 week quarantine on your return to the UK when you get back, makes for extra ball ache if that’s the case!

Best go quick I think I learned tonight our orginisations are abandoning the fight on the trophy import ban as they feel it’s a waste of time. Im sure pretty soon you won’t be able to get stuff back

Trophys making memorys with my lad heads on the wall are confined to the shed I'm afraid

Your right trophies are not the reason to hunt but if the trade begins to dwindle as folk begin to abandon hunting overseas then these areas will begin to close and diversify. Then we will lose the ability to make memories.

The stalking trip back to the UK has been put on hold till next year. I've not booked any driven trips abroad yet. I'll wait till later in the year and see how things pan out.
I have booked a couple of driven days here in Sweden for Nov & Dec. I,ll see what else comes up here at home. I've got moose hunting with our hunting team and a invite from a mate down south for a days driven boar. So all is not lost.

Apparently under lockdown, species are turning up in odd places - such as buffalo materialising in parts of the Eastern Cape where they are not supposed to exist.
Be positive, there might be some affordable cull hunts when things get better
