Years Ago I had a dog called Merlin after the wizard, everyone always commented on me naming it after the bird, after that I had, Kes, Lanner, Saker, Gos, Osprey, Hawk, etc Then, Balaam and Barak, before moving on to the Aramaic and Hebrew names I mostly use now , apart from Emrys, which goes back to Merlin!

My dear old grandfather had a jack russel terrier called Sooner, I was only a boy about eight years old and asked him why he called him Sooner. He looked at me and said the sooner he goes the f***king! better

I had a brute of a mastiff/greyhound cross that would take a cow down, not very pretty, but we called her Belle.
Also had a Plummer terrier called Kipper.

We have two cockers one called Ronnie, I suggested to the wife we call the other one Reggie. Needless to say I got voted down.

We also inherited a Springer (now dead) that was called Snoop (dog) though a better name for him would have been Swing-bin ( greedy b'stard would steal and eat anything).
A friend of mine had two bull x greyhound x foxhound called Ronnie & Reggie, they lived up to there names to when running foxes on the mountains.

As it states just wondering the best and funniest dogs names, have a mate with a miniature pincer called Dave but in a very thick geordie accent.
then there’s that posh chap with Fentern chasing the dear in a park.
there also seems to be a different list of names for posh peoples dogs and working class.
Just remembered about 25 years back I rescued an older Collie called Toby, got him company from the same place two weeks later, naturally wr named him Jug!

Dads mate named his whippet Kelston after his boss they use to love it in the yard shouting out his name and calling it everything under the sun except lovely.

Our latest lab we called Fizz....gives the impression of a young, bold, energetic dog with boundless energy.
Sweeping up after one drive on the shoot she took off after a wounded runner that had couched up in some bracken. Off she went air and ground scenting, working methodically, disappeard from view when we heard a dull thud. Said lab returns with a bleeding nose and no bird having apparently run into a tree........She is now known as Bumble.
