What are we using / recommending / not-recommending? Anything cheap and cheerful on amazon etc? Preferably black or green

Camo cloth cut an inch or so wide wrap it on tape it in place with good old insulation tape, a good source of meterial is old camo trousers/shirt/jacket well it sure works for me and has done for years.

I’m just lazy - I tend to leave the Scopecoat on when I’m stalking.

The Scopecoat comes off when I raise the rifle onto the sticks.
Good point. I think it does depend on situation. Hill / lots of walking etc but wooded where an opp may just appear then it’s another faff (on top of scope mag, dialling in, checking wind on your kestrel etc. 😉) to sort out

I use the same philosophy when stalking with a rifle as I do when stalking with a camera........."Point and Shoot".

Can't be doing with all that zoom-changing, rangefinding, wind-measuring, bullet drop compensating malarkey :)

Beware rust under any tape that is left in place, be it cloth or plastic, I've just had cause to remove the realtree wrap I had on my 'scope (2yrs?) only to find traces of rust and damage to the blueing- which is notably absent from the rifle metalwork which is not wrapped.

Aren't most scopes made from aircraft grade aluminium these days??? :-|

If you need cammo on your scope, you don't need a scope, back up a bit.
None of the tapes will give any real " ding " protection and they may well absorb water or leave a residue, a neoprene boot or moderator cover might be a better solution.
