Any one got one ? Pros cons looking at one of these or a Sako finnlite 2. Or browning x bolt pro.

I already have a tikka in a PSE stock. Just fancying something else. Use will be stalking only

Shot one at an open day. Couldn't remove the bolt without adjusting the cheek piece. In off the shelf rifles, I think Tikka T3's take a lot of beating.

Thank you, I have two T3s. I’m just fancying treating myself to something else. The Sauer is lovely looking. Will go and have another look at one again later today.

Don't agree, it's a top class Rifle, have one 5 Years now, wouldn't change it.
If you want to take out the bolt push down on cheek piece, and that's it.
So many calibres to choose from, super accurate.
Down side Scope is mounted on QR mount for Sauer 404 only called a SUM.
If you get one you can now get a QR Pickatnny rail so that solves that problem.

Had a look at one and they are beautifully made and machined (as all sauers seem to be) and if my 202’s are anything to go by it will be an excellent rifle.

also you have the benefit of the barrel swap.

other than the older style mannlichers or Merkels I do t find anything as slick as the sauers, but obviously that’s just my opinion.

a Tikka isn’t even close (and I have one) they are great rifles but built to a budget and nowhere near as slick to use.

My experienced firearms dealer tell's me they ain't as good as the older 202 so if it was I that's what I'd be looking for ;-)

I have a 404 Synchro and I love it. I had decided I wanted a Mauser M03 and liked that a lot. I was advised to look at a Schultz and Larsen and really, really liked them. The last thing I wanted was anything with a ‘thumb hole’. However, I was persuaded to shoulder the 404 and the decision was made for me. The only gripe would be that you cannot remove the bolt with the cheek pice raised but it’s a two second job. Buy one and you won’t regret it.

Hello

A lot of technology applied on materials that do not convince me.

I must be objective

I know very active hunters, who use it since they were released, and they are Happy.

I've seen one severely cracked from not laying the groundwork right.

It was a 202 of similar materials to the 404

So if you buy one, be careful with that

What he said
But seriously the thing that bothers me about all the new kit is the cost and the fact that newcomers believe that you need 10K of rifle, optic and knife to get a deer.
Although I have no problem with people spending their hard earned on whatever they want I do get a warm fuzzy feeling when I hear about people using cheap kit and still being successful.

£3200 for a factory rifle is eye watering. The old 202 were what, £1600 for a base model? They value the thumbhole stock at £1600 then?

I get the feeling this line of rifle is aimed at folks determined to blow a ton of money at a marquee brand without really considering the alternatives.I’d take my £3k to Steve Kershaw, Callum Ferguson or Ronin off here and see what they can do for you.

I have spent my time shooting cheap rifles and they all shot fine. I’m more interested in purchasing something which I will use.

A 200 quid rifle does the same as a 4 k rifle at the target end.

Sometimes something nice is just that something nice.

I shot one a couple of times, nice rifle. What you're paying for is the seriously trick design features;
Trigger blade is adjustable, trigger pull has four settings from 'driven boar' to 'keeps you regular'. The thumbhole stock is a bit space-age looking but is an ergonomic marvel
Don't see them for sale second hand very often, which must mean something.
The dinky case is really something too.
If I wasn't so far down the rabbit hole with my precision rifle, i'd have one.

Very nice rifles
Much nicer feel compared to a budget one
Nice plastics better than most
Super slick bolt
Intuitive bolt priming safety same as the blaser
Very nice QR mounts
Very comfortable and ergonomic pistol grip design

Drop in and try one, we have several in stock and have some belting deals on
Infinitely nicer gun than the S20 and finnlite

I’ve seen all sorts of rifles with faults, I’ve never had an issue with sauers in over a decade so I don’t think it’s fair to say because you have seen one it means all have an issue.

i think the thing that appeals with sauers to me is the quality of the components, the accuracy, the trigger function, silent safety, the fact it’s a take down rifle with swappable barrels and the fact they are ilaflon coated so don’t rust.

a hard package to beat.

sure, you will get less expensive rifles that may do the job, but that’s like saying there’s no point buying a highperformance car because a Kia does the job....if you feel that way knock yourself out, but I think it’s hard to argue with Sauer’s heritage and reputation for quality firearms and products.

I could most likely throw a boulder at a deer from a tree and be successful....doesn’t mean I’m going to start climbing trees...😂

nothing wrong with a custom, but what’s the resale going to be on most custom rifles after a few years? Also, there’s no guarantee they will be better, been down the route of building from parts and also had problems.

Hello

I don't know where, I have written what you mention.

I said that they are materials that do not convince me. I also mention that there are many experienced users, who are satisfied with their Sauer.

I just suggested to fine-tune the bases so that problems like this don't happen

I am a respectful prewar Sauer weapon user.

I admire their old weapons, not the new.

I don't like modular weapons.

But it's just my opinion and my taste

Best regards

i think this is an aluminium alloy action, possibly down to over torque, although the ones I have are steel actions.
