I've got a scottish cert, Its not specific about the ground or the quarry. The onus is on the shooter to use legal calibres on suitable quarry and on suitable ground.
They always ask where I'm planning to shoot but that seems like a reasonable question to me. I imagine if you wanted to shoot in a 1acre field with a .338 lap mag they might question your judgement and suitability to hold a cert?
You won't get any FAO checking land anywhere most likely. That would be a FEO - Firearms enquiry officer. The FAO will be sitting at his desk, making decisions (authorising stuff) in between breaks for tea/coffee and doughnuts of course.
There is no land clearance in Scotland. I've had a few phonecalls/emails from English F.E.O.'s regarding suitable and maximum calibres for the land for certain syndicate members that live south of the border.
My reply is usually any deer legal calibre they have. If pressed i will say .375 or .338.
Thats usually the end of the matter.
