Which Parker Hale Is This

Hi All,

Can anyone please tell me what model of Parker Hale this is and does anyone know where I could get a manual for it?

It's in .243 and has Parker Hale Birmingham England stamped on top of the barrel about halfway down and that's about it apart from the proofs and serial.

Not the greatest of pictures but can do more if anyone asks.

Thanks,
Robbie.

You have excellent taste in cartridges Vigilaire. :)

P.S. Freeforester the M81 was a later model and based on more classic British lines. One of the last rifles that Parker Hale produced and the nicest looking.

Thanks for the correction, I had a bit of a stab at it tbh; it was a toss up between the P/H M81 and the BSA CF2 for my first rifle, clearly I went with BSA, but I agree with your archaeological findings - Rab'll probably have to check out Petra or the pyramids for the instructions then, lol.

my first stalking rifle was a p.h 1200 safari but it had a detachable magazine.mine was in 308w.i sold it in the late 1980,s for £80 including scope etc ,<should have kept it>

Yep must agree with the above, 1200 Safari and was my first New .243 rifle, bought in '77 for £120 from Richards of Taunton. he took my Anschutz 1416 22wrm in part exchange.

My first centrefire rifle was a nearly new 1200 safari in .270win bought from D.J. Litts of Malpas Rd, Newport for £90 in 1979. It came with 29 rounds of Norma ammunition.

M81 deluxe, from distant memory.

I hesitate to describe it as being of vintage, but you'll sometimes find the instructions carved on Pictish stones and occasionally in English churches on graves of knights!

Hi All,

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated.

I thought I was going to have to do some brass rubbings but managed to find this online

It did come with P/H RAHS.3 rings on what looks like close to 20mm dovetails. Previous owner has tried to file grooves into the original P/H dovetails for Pic/weaver mounts and it's not pretty

Are the RAHS 3 rings sought after? All my scopes are 30mm so will be looking to sell or trade for a rail/bases and 30mm rings. Anyone interested??

Cheers,
Robbie.

The Parker Hale RAHS 3 scope rings are low mounts for 1” tube with integral 17mm dovetails as used with a Pecar scope on the Enfield Enforcer L42A1 (7.62x51).

If in great condition they would be of interest to an Enfield Enforcer enthusiast, eBay sale will find the appropriate value.

l don’t need any, l have some in front of me.

My first stalking rifle was a PH 1200 Lightweight. Plainer stock than that Safari which looks absolutely identical to the stock on the heavy barrelled BSA CF2 I used to have. Most comfortable man-sized stock I've ever had. Fitted like a glove.
Rifles nowadays seem to be designed for people with no neck and short arms.

I preferred the BSA Sako-based (I think..) action to the PH Mauser but otherwise, if it's not shot out, that will be a cracking rifle that will match anything off the shelf at five times the price.
