Info’ – I have 2 x JD184 Hausken moderators.
Hausken moderators have two main parts; an internal central milled one-piece billet which is then encased by a cylindrical tube, threaded at one end.
A special Hausken 12–sided nut is inserted into the base of the moderator and this unscrews the internal billet, then it should slide out of the outer tube – ONLY IT DOESN’T! The build-up of propellant deposits on the internal wall of the tube prevented this happening.
I spoke with importers RUAG and e-mailed Hausken for a “correct way” to take the moderator apart. Unfortunately no definitive answer forthcoming; except clean more frequently to avoid build-up?
All this of course is dependent on how much of the propellant is burnt in the rifle barrel and how much is burnt in the moderator.
Anyhow, my solution was to purchase a larger Ultrasonic Cleaner, the 3L GT SONIC; the 3L water tank takes a 220mm/8.5inch moderator.
Combined with my usual LYMAN TURBO SONIC CASE CLEANING SOLUTION, this Ultrasonic Cleaner managed to dissolve and dislodge the internal deposits, and allow me to slide the two pieces apart.
Hope this is of use to folk.

RoyR
