For over a century, the 22LR has served target shooters, hunters and pest controllers with a quiet, accurate and generally reliable cartridge.

However, we should have realised the error of our ways ,as this chambering required dirty lead bullets, that are not only harmful to whatever they were fired at, but also to us, the earth and nature.

Thankfully, an environmentally responsible solution has arisen, and by giving our business to this company and buying their components and dies, we will be saved!

We must also cast aside our old, slow twist barrels and pay for a new, fast twist ones which have been chambered with the finest 'match grade' reamers.

Behold, a new dawn!

1. So you're telling me the lead bullets are harmful to the critters I'm trying to kill.
2. Was that the mission to the moon? To bring back lead?

Unless I’m very much mistaken, Caberslash was using a fair amount of sarcasm in his post! It came across as very tongue in cheek to me.

As I understand it, the 32gr solids won’t require a faster than normal twist. Heavier bullets would do - perhaps 1 in ~6.

There’s the potential for these to improve the long range accuracy of the .22LR rather than as an alternative to lead bullets.

If you think that sounds pointless... Well, some people like to do things and experiment just because they can! Plus, if my maths is right, a 0.5kg tub of Viht 3n37 should be enough for around 2,500rds if your max charge is 3gr! Bargain!

Not surprising at all though, they would be too long to stabilise in 1:16 barrels at subsonic speeds. The people producing the solids are doing a 42gr gr and they are suggesting 1:9 is needed, don’t know if that’s for subs either, I think form memory subs would need to be around 1:7

If you are going HV then .22 doesn’t really make sense as you may as well get an HMR or a .22 WMR, the latter being available in semi auto. If you’re going to make noise you may as well get 300 ft-lb+ for your efforts

That will explain why my local gunshop has a rackful of 10/22's in the back... last time I asked, the owner said 'plenty of these about, I'll give you one if you have a slot on the ticket for it!'
