Tim243 you have been on my ignored list for a long time so dont bother for me - I assume you are playing to the gallery.
My comments stem from several concerns I still hold which may well affect future actions by WJ.
1. If they can be seen to have failed, that will impact their funding present and future but such a view that their action has failed will need to be neutral not from 'us'.
2. If NRW do NOT seek costs and are entitled, to then they can be seen to be supporting WJ with public money - that would be grounds for an action, or does nobody care about this ?
3. If ANYONE goes into a legal action not knowing how much it might cost - least and maximum, then they are away with the fairies - so what is the view of BASC's QC about the recovery of BASC's costs - it would be a failure on his part not to seek guidance on whether to pursue this. More needs to be published than the bald figures which, in truth, are meaningless as are protestation of 'winning'. WE all know GL's are now more restrictive, collared doves, rooks, jays, red and amber lists etc.
4. As part of the process of JR, costs can be kept to a minimum for the guy who brings a personal action. For the claimant this could be small if they lose £30,000 is cited.
However, if he he wins, legal advice here is logical, he pays nothing or very little - the judges decide.
However, the process can be simple or complex. A QC's to present evidence already required by the process in writing - I cant imagne their costs can be ultra high, for what time they are involved - A QC costs what £3000-£5000 a day also a junior who would be there when the QC wasn't so maybe £50K for the DEFENDER - costs for a supporting act proportionately lower one would have thought. You dont spend £140,000 k without having answers to some of those questions.
I would remind everyone that actions prior to this would have caused a massive loss of supporters and yet no action or explanation was taken over e.g. medicals. I dont like being shafted by untruth - ok I am not a member of many orgs but I am still a shooter and a stalker and care about shooting and those in it. If those who criticise my concerns remind themselves they have swallowed all of the past failings whole and not changed their minds or are a little more cautious then perhaps they have a reason not to. It certainly isnt concern about what I say.
