Retention of fired cartridges/cases - DIY NCIS

There are scenarios where it might prove useful that I can think of in investigating crime. So if you want to do it, I say fill your boots. Perhaps someone will reply to the letter saying that this service will incur a charge for the brass that cannot be reloaded and services providing evidence by producing evidence you've gathered in court in any future court case. And monthly ongoing storage charges. See how that goes. Perhaps offer them a single annual charge to be paid at the time of renewal, which will only coincidentally amount to the cost of the renewal.
One good turn.... :)

Like your thinking,...... Or cost of your GP report which ever is greater.

As said, been done to death and as valid as a pink fiver.
Anyone been asked to provide their saved cases for test?
Thought not.

And should a used barrel be sold after you have had it changed ? happens you know ? what about a bla bla /other barrel and bolt head for sale anyone .

I think any decent barrister would have your held case dismissed as evidence due to chain of evidence etc, a really nasty barrister might even implicate you in the case:confused:
I think you're right. However, presumably the case will have investigative value as well as (or instead of) evidential potential. i.e. it might be the clue that helps Marple identify the Countess as the killer, even if she requires a different piece of evidence (subsequently obtained) to secure a conviction?

I don't see a problem, most of us reload so retaining one used case is not an issue.
If I was unfortunate to have my guns stolen and someone was seriously injured or worse, I would want to do my upmost to catch whoever did it, and if that involves me retaining a case or two then so be it..

I applaud your good citizenship but as has been said previously its always one way traffic we do all we can to be of help and assistance but as a reward we get at best poor service and rules made up by each force no consistency or following of HOG

Thats because we do not have a shooting organisation that is aggressive enough that would make them think twice about interpreting the HOG guidelines as they see fit..
Until there is a system in place that would see them in court at the drop of a hat then they will continue to enforce as they see fit..
I argued for 5 years @ BASC that we had to be more aggressive in the pursuant of those that would try at any cost to curtail our sport.

I argued that we should not be pussyfooting about sending strongly worded letters,we should just send a summons, and until there is an organisation that will at the drop of hat do that then I feel we are well and truly on the slippery slope to more and more restrictions..

I will add that I have never had any problems with D&G firearms they have been superb at every turn, but being privvy to some of the cases that came to BASC, there are certain forces that just push the envelope when it comes to the HOG guidelines..

A fighting fund for every certificate holder is what is needed, £10 from every individual would see that you could employ several QC's/barristers specialists in FAC law to defend us..

Well if you were @ BASC and had to argue it in the voice of shooting then they are a very muted voice and we are doomed.
Also no surprise we see so many posts asking which Org to join NGO or SGA.

I have the same view, as do others but until THE MAJORITY of shooters stop hoping and wishing and licking certain Orgs ********* and stand -up for others in their sport we will be treated like beggars. We have had the best of shooting we must leave a better place for those who follow us.

Just received my FAC/SGC renewal back from the Met with a separate letter asking me to consider keeping a FIRED cartridge or case from each firearm or shotgun I possess. This is apparently going to all FAC/SGC holders. The idea is that you keep a once-fired cartridge/case in an envelope with the weapon details/serial number on the envelope, so if your guns get nicked, you can give the cases to the police who give them to the NaBIS, who can then determine whether your weapons are subsequently used in crimes.

Anyone else had one of these letters?

And any reactions?
How long will that take (it takes them over 9 months to do a renewal )
