Best Rifle Mounted Lamp

Been looking for a new rifle mounted lamp and would like some opinions on the Deben Tri Star Pro versus the Clulite Masterlite Supreme.
The advertised ranges do not seem to differ very much given that the Deben has 1,600 lumens and the Clulite has only 250 lumens.
Would also be interested in any other similar alternatives.

Ive had 2 Clulites and currently using the Cluson shootalite. Never ahd an issue with quality. Im not too sure about the LED lights though ive not tried them. Do like the idea of a nice tight beem, very light too. Let me know what you decide on and how you get on.

I think lamp choice will depend entirely on what you want to use it for (aside from the spend side of things). Will you want to filter it for example - and how much is weight an issue.....
I use and have put some other SD members onto an CREE LED torch with the performance of the likes of the Masterlite, Fenix, Tiablo etc. for a fraction of the price (as in total set up less than £80). Small, light, punchy, tight beam to c.200yds. All feedback has been good and we continue to tinker to get the best out of them. I'm just looking at a new LED to market to see how that performs. I do also use a Lightforce Striker mounted - just depends on what you're doing (I wouldn't want to do a walkaround with the Striker). Just a further note - if you want to filter to IR for NV, LED is not a good option as they tend not to produce much of that wavelength light (v. a halogen lamp or designator).

PM me if you want the details.

I've used a lightforce striker140, now got a lightforce striker170, on my foxing rifle, (great light) i walk around with it hand held then snap on rifle when come across charlie. I use a cluson lazerlight on my .22 for rabbits.

Striker 170 with a orange filter gives me good results:-D
Yep second that one ,I also have just put a Cluson Master Light Supreme on my 243 and bagged a fox on first outing, but in reality don't listen to the hype they are only good for 150yds max.

Which ever system you choose,I would recommend fitting a safari sling to your rifle as brilliant when walking, walk for miles with my Striker fitted and can be on the sticks quickly with the sling fitted.I also have the battery, which is a small one as used in a fire alarm backup power unit. If you go with Lightforce they have dire wiring and sealed switch units, its a simple job to re-wire them and a better switch can be found on a cheap bedroom tablelamp.

Until recently I used the Cluson Master Light Supreme, great lamp with a good mounting system and I would say as 177landy did don't listen to the publicity too much 150 yards is about the limit. I recently too the plunge and bought an ND3 x50 laser. It came in at £280 which was a little steep but I took it out in anger tonight and at 200 yards I could see individual twigs on a tree. No foxes but that is par for the course at this time of year :suss: I think that the laser light will take some adjusting to on the shooters part but the clarity with a good scope is top draw stuff. Personally I would wait for the "extreme" version though as the current one hates cold weather. Once that comes out it will be the cats pyjamas :)

Good to hear a positive review of the ND3 straightliner - I've been thinking about one, but as you say, they are dear.

Good to see what response you get from Charlie when you put it on him. Ive read that the light is less visible to the fox? That possible?

I don't know what it is with Charlie but they tend to freeze when the laser hits them. I think that it is the intensity of the beam. It is laser light and as we know it always says not to look into them because they will damage your eyes. It probably blinds them temporarily.

Lampforce 170 with amber or green filter, easy id on fox to 200 yards. Just a bit big and clumbersome though. Need to investigate these Tiabalo lamps that people here are talkingabout. never heard of them.

You could try here JETBEAM UK - Supplying high power mobile LED lighting solutions in the UK.

I've been using the setup for a little while. It's brilliant and not at all cumbersome in use. Light, bright and fast to handle it's great for ratting around the barns etc. I'm so chuffed with it that I'm going to fit the same system to the CZ452's (.17HMR and .22 Rim) and the .243.

The JET-3M R5 looks like a good option. Which one ahev you got? Im thinking of getting one but need to be sure its worth it. 300m seems a tall order for an LED lamp.
