Am I doing something wrong with my Axiom Key XM30.

I have had my thermal for over a year now and have never found it as good as I thought it would be and I am wondering after reading the earlier posts if I am using it right.
last night sitting in a hedgerow i couldn’t see my mate sitting in opposite hedge at 350 yds, two hares at 140 yds or five roe at 470yds.
I was trying different settings etc and normally have it on hot black, I could pick up the border terrier lying at my feet.
Any suggestions or is it need of repair.

I've used my mates and I wasn't impressed at 1st but then changed to black hot for closer ranges and white for further seemed to work , can't remember if they have rear diopter focus could be that

I use 4x mag, red hot, yellow cooler, and have always been very pleased with results. I think it's down to focus.

Strange. I have one and recon you should be able to see a human at 350 yards whatever the setting or focus.

Was this test was in dry weather, as any moisture in the air really reduces what you can see?

However if you have had the thing for a year, i assume you have tried this. Can i suggest a side by side comparison with someone else’s of the same model. Maybe you have a dud.

White hot and focus the eye piece as well until the writing at the bottom of the screen becomes clear, They're brilliant bits of kit but it has to be set up right, Also as stated some nights can and will be better than others.

I rarely change the focus on a Axiom Key XM30. I find it makes very little difference, so keep the focus ring in the 'middle-of-its-range-of-travel.'

Very strange as I can spot roe a 1000yards with mine! (Verified with RF) yes, they are white blobs but they stick out like a sore thumb!

will try any get a photo next time I’m out.

regards,
Gixer

What was the weather like ? Misty damp weather will reduce the capabilities a lot.
Last night was very misty and damp air. I could only just make a fox out in my xq38 thermal at 150yard. Couldn't see it at all in the drone.
