Just, 'because' . . . .

Indeed. This is why it's so important to actually understand what you're using, and why. Especially with the like of essential oils, and even more when it comes to cosmetics and topical applications. For my part, I've taken specialised courses to understand the implications and effects of essential oils (and not just some hippy 'Smell Yourself Better' aromatherapy nonsense), and the cream I've developed (not yet available for sale) needs to be subjected to independent chemical analysis and evaluation for bacterial resistance (a huge barrier, given our particular requirement to have our product paraben-free), CPSR (Cosmetic Product Safety Report), and batch testing of ingredients. along with a couple of other tests. These things take time, and cost a significant amount of money, but it's absolutely vital that they're undertaken to protect folk. So far my own amateur tests are proving hugely successful, but in no way do they substitute for the stipulated legal requirements. Hopefully, the tests are going well, and we'll be licensed to sell shortly. Our soaps require a CPSR also, but due to the very nature of soap making, any risks from the inclusion of raw goats milk are completely negated by the PH change occurring through the saponification process. It all takes time, and it all takes money, along with a particular set of skills and attributes, which is why premium artisan products such as the ones we aim to provide are more expensive than your run-of-the-mill products. Having said that, reports from friends and family who've so far evaluated the creams have reported very positive results :)
Sounds interesting. I can see that the other shop that willie_gunn recommended, does have a simply range, without the perfumes. I seem to have more and more problems with perfume in products so I was interested in the goats milk idea.

Fragrances and stabilisers, UV-absorbers, etc are strictly-regulated by percentages in cosmetics, but those percentages can still affect a lot of people. There's a lot of nasty stuff out there that doesn't get any less nasty just because the amount the law allows producers to expose you to is limited 🤬

Unfortunately thats all too true. The dermatologists on the program were very clear that they would like to see a level of around 1-2 milligrams per kilo but the law still allowed for 1000 milligrams in some cases and some natural products had up to 4000 milligrams. I had no idea that some of these natural products are among the worst offenders as far as perfume allergy is concerned.

Oh god yes. I've carefully thought about the essential oils we're putting into our cream, and I've had to eliminate a fair few due to the fat they can actually be potentially toxic, irritating, etc. Shame for some of them because the scent combinations were amazing. The scent is one thing though, but it's the actual effect the oils have on the user that's the main focus. I've also got an unscented version that still smells incredible due to the nature of the raw ingredients. I've actually surprised myself by just how passionate I've become about it. Hopefully before too much longer we can get out and about and actually let people try for themselves

Love watching lambs and kids bouncing about like that.

If your looking for inspiration with regards to goat meat then you should pop along to this place, it can’t be more than 25min from you.

Ten minutes away. Literally :)

If you ever do venture into the meat market let me know as I’d take a billy kid off your hands no problem.

We probably will at some point, to be honest. We have five dairy nannies that we need to get in-milk, so the odds are pretty high that we'll have males to deal with. I'll let you know if you like? :thumb:
