Moose

Good afternoon gentlemen
I want to shoot a Moose either in Canada or in the States without having to sell my house to afford the trip.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or does anyone know of a good outfitter who can be relied on.

if you want an affordable moose hunt you can forget about alaska or western canada!
I would check out newfoundland they have a large moose population and the costs are afordable.they also have black bear and caribou.
and the moose in newfoundland will be way bigger than down in the states.
theres 3 north american subspecies the shiras moose in the states which is the smallest, the canadian moose and then the alaskan, yukon moose which is the biggest.
I believe the moose in newfoundland are canadian moose.they are an introduced species, non native to the island.
cheers dan

dont the Newfies have a strict lottery system in place for Moose? certainly the case in the Maritimes
I highly doubt it with the fact that there is over 150,000 moose on the island and there non native species.
if you google some outfitters in newfoundland they will readily take non residents.
lottery systems in canada are normally for resident hunters.
Guide outfitters and there clients work on a quota system ,once they reach there quota for that year ,they cant hunt any more

interesting, seems unfair that residents have to join a lottery but bringing in the big bucks lets you shoot as many as you pay for/are allowed to.

How does is work in BC?

as above , which is highly unfair ! but money talks.

but there is some areas that are not on lottery in bc ,normally tough access areas
and certain age group moose in an area will be open in areas.
region 7a in bc opens calf moose in october and across the province you can hunt immature bulls with max 2 points on one antler(spike fork moose)but it does **** you off when hunting hard for an immature bull .only to see a guide and client drive by with a big bull in the truck bed.
