Wanted: Deer Stalking Lancashire & Yorkshire

Can anyone out there recommend or have had deer stalking in Lancashire and Yorkshire. I’m pretty new to deer stalking and I’m really keen to go out on a few stalking trips with an experienced guide. Thanks

Welcome to the site and welcome to the wonderful sport of deer stalking.I see youve planned to do your DSC with Mike ask him for a few outings some great land and a great guy too boot.Lancashire you'll struggle with id say for a paid outing there are some folk that claim to do them but I'd steer clear.Yorkshire there are a few John Robson gets good reports at Yorkshire deer stalking.Perhaps try joining the BDS I'm not a member I may add but I have been to one of there events and it was pretty good you may get to meet someone willing enough to let you tag along to at least learn the ropes.But be warned it can also be a clicky old world of who's who and everyone knowing everyone.Tbh it's possibly the most back stabbed pastime known to man.Best of luck anyhow

I don't know of any guides operating in Lancashire, the closest who regularly offer guided stalking is Graythwaite estate in the South Lakes, email George Sandys on: george@graythwaite.com for details. Some clients have posted reports of visits on here if you search for 'Graythwaite.'

In addition to @NickJ I believe lowther estate do paid days, some classic hill stalking for reds and roe on the low ground , also consider Jonathan Standing at witherslack!

Much of the stalking in Lancashire is farmland and small estates

I cant think of anyone in the county who works as a “guide” - I can think of some folk to avoid ......

Some estates will take out clients but that is usually arranged via the stalker who looks after the Estate

As per previous posts - Graythwaite, Lowther etc advertise stalking

Come along to the BDS events (range days or the country fairs we attend) have a chat and get involved - this is possibly your best way to find out what’s available

You’d be made welcome, then form your own opinion if you wanted to support BDS by joining or continue visiting local events
