Said goodbye to my best pal of the last eleven and a half years today.
New it was coming as he was diagnosed with a chest tumour over a year ago....been worse over last few weeks and getting slower. Took him for a wander this morning off the lead hunting (slowly) his favourite hedgerows, then suddenly collapsed.
Scooped him up in the truck and took him to the vets....died in my arms.
Rest in peace Archie old pal.....you were my once in a lifetime dog.
Regards, Rob.

Life feels c**p at times like these.
Everybody who’s had a dog goes through the same emotions.
The pain eases thankfully and the good thing is the memories never die

Daft thing is we never learn and get a new friend when the time is right only to go through the emotions at a later date.

Drink a toast to him this evening and the memories will ease the pain.

I feel your pain , I've had 5 dogs over the years and all of them great and different in their own ways . My wife calls me a hard b$%&"d, but I cry like a baby every time I say good bye to another. I've gone to Labs now as my last Cocker I was never going to try and replace !! Getting a new pup and training, takes your mind off the ones you've lost but great memories will never die. I raise a glass to all great dogs that have past .

Died doing what he loved. I hope I go like that. Looked like a true character. Thoughts are with you pal.

It’s the worst feeling but better that his last moments were with you, free and enjoying himself than in a vets waiting room.

ps I see there’s a chap on here selling some GWP pups whose breeding looks fine……

So sorry for your loss every time it happens I say never, again then one day a sparkly eye and a wet nose catches your attention and bugger me your off again, no matter how many times it happens it's never easy in fact I think it gets harder the older you are.

I know how you feel I have two that are close to the end one is sixteen the other not sure as she was a rescue dog but
estimated a thirteen both were good workers and have been retired for a while but they are failing now .it's only
a matter of time now.

This ^ is as good as you can hope for.Its a sword hanging over your head everytime you know the times approaching when you need to take them on the final walk.
I lost a lab a few weeks ago.Sudden and in his sleep.Cant ask for more than that.

Very sorry to hear that.

I am so very sorry. It is such an awful moment. It is the trust, total loyalty and unconditional love that those who don’t have such canine companions will never understand. Sounds like he passed well doing what he loved. Remember it isn’t the passing, it is the life well lived!

sad day sooo sorry for you and he. but the only way foreward if circumstances allow is a pup! good luck and post pics if you do.
