Ok so for 20 yrs I’ve bought factory ammo from the gun shop
Where do I stand with my stalking buddy loading for me and me buying those rounds from him to cover his costs ?
secondly what if I buy factory rounds from someone else ie another mate who no longer shoots factory?
What is the correct way to do these transactions and it legally show I’ve used them so on ticket ✅
Cheers folks

No problem in either case, as long as both individuals are licensed to possess the calibre in question.
They can enter the transfer of the rounds in Part II of your FAC.

If your loading for someone else’s Rifle then you should load develop like you would your own Rifle, observe all the signs and don’t go beyond the book max

I reload for a Mate, I make him buy all the components and have him present whilst loading them. Hopefully he will do it himself soon with a bit of guidance.

I think there's already been a thread about this. Frankly, I wouldn't load for anyone else. Whose responsible if something goes wrong?

Unless you want to load yourself, I'd stick to factory rounds and maybe get a bit of change back by selling your empties to the reloader.

Officially that would be totally illegal. There's all sorts of hoops you need to jump through before you can sell ammunition that you have loaded yourself!

What if I’ve supplied the components and bunged him a drink for his time ?

Like I say, it's illegal. You're still paying for his time, even if it's not in cash. I have no doubt that it goes on all over the country but just imagine if it went wrong. I believe that Ed is going through this process to sell his ammunition. The boxes have to be stamped and all sorts of checks carried out.

There is no reason why you can’t provide your friend with the components and he loads them (after careful load development ) for you. I would fight shy of anything involving payment, even the suggestion of a drink, cos you’re moving into business/dealer territory.

To be within the letter of the law your mate MUST have authority to possess the calibre/chambering in question, and at a stretch that also includes if he’s making them in front of you.

My son and I “share” a .308 rifle. I load for it and transfer the rounds onto his certificate.

Why not get him to show you how to load your own rounds using his equipment?

If you make and sell ammunition to someone else doesn't the proof house need to get involved?

Cheers

Bruce

No You do not by law need to have ammunition or cartridges tested by the proof house prior to “selling/gifting” them.

If selling ammunition section 1 to a friend, provided you both have the authority to possess them, then you must not make a profit as then you are doing so as a commercial venture and must be a RFD.

Trust is the issue both parties must be happy to accept the risks possibly best to watch the other person loading the ammunition or share the reloading when both present.

This is as explained to me by my f l m,
Put in application to have calibres/s required by mate included on your own acc it's a reasonable request and a legal one.
Then load for your mate and enter them on his certificate when he picks them up.
Simples.
I have been doing it for years so the the blessing of our force

But you're presumably not selling them?
