Swarovski Z8i 2.3-18x56 or Zeiss Victory V8 2.8-20x56
looking for low light scope with ability for longer range shooting
Have had Swarovski scopes but havent had Zeiss. However have a pair Zeiss binos which i have been very impressed with.
After clarity and light gathering rather than gizmos

I had the same debate, I have opted for a V8 but going with the 4.5-30 just need to find one now.

I looked through both and preferred the ZEISS

Zeiss better than Swarovski for me, I had both Z8I and V8.
However, Leica Magnus beat both at low light in my opinion

I was hoping to narrow the options
But will take on your suggestion and look at the leica
What are leica like for customer support repairs (upto Sw standards?)

Do you think prices will come down ? Optics EU seem quite competitive on price
Not a pricing concern, I’m just not in a rush I have ample scopes at the minute. Doing less shooting just now. I’m set on the ZEISS but in no rush to buy. I’ll get Christmas out of the way then look at it.

Leica customer service is brilliant.
They will collect from your address of choice, sort out the problem and send back to your at their expense.
I got a Magnus 2.4-16X56 ASV with rail for sale in as new condition if any interest….

Top low light performance and 8x zoom range don‘t go together. Both Zeiss V8 and Swaro Z8 are fashion products but suited to neither low light nor long range.
If you want top notch low light performance get either a Zeiss HT or a Schmidt & Bender Polar.
For long range look to March, Schmidt and Bender PM II, Kahles or the likes.

Ive got a Z8i with the ballistic turret. It really is a range the deer, dial it in and shoot. Only taken fallow to a smidge over 300m but perfect return to zero every time and superb clarity, even in low light.
Not used the Zeiss so cant comment unfortunately
