Swarovski Z8i 2-16×50 vs Zeiss Victory HT 2.5-10×50 low light capability

Hi,
has anyone had a chance to compare the above mentioned scopes in low light? I have a Z8i which is a cracking scope but I bought it with the thought of driven hunting in mind. I have had some success with it, never missed a shot, but nowdays I just use lighter less valuable scopes for driven hunting. So the Z8i mostly gets used for low light tree stand hunting and longer shots. Anyway, I'm wondering if I would benefit enough by changing to a Victory HT for low light use. Or would this just be nonsense.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I use the swaro 1.5 - 8 x 24 on the 308 Schmitt. 2.5 - 10 x 56 zenith on 6.5 and on the 243 2.5 - 15 x 56 ASV zeiss v8

Apart from the brilliant FOV. X 24 they all do the job admirably
If I had to choose as an all rounder it could possibly be the zeiss because it’s such a versatile scope low or high mag ASV or not in use it’s the scope for everything
Rarely do any go over 6 x possibly only the zeiss reaching out a bit further than the norm

Yep I’d say the zeiss 👍

My favourite for tight woodland stalking the swaro x 24 on 4 x is brilliant for getting in tight spots for a shot - gin clear sharp

Both of those scopes are so good that I would be very surprised if you could tell them apart. I have tested several top quality optics that I own, side by side and my eyes certainly can't tell the difference. You get what you pay for and when you buy Swaro, Leica of Zeiss Victory you're paying for that quality.

Absolutely correct 👍👍

If the intention is primarily low light use, then one of the modern digital day / night rifle scopes (such as the HIK Alpex 4K) would win hands down performance wise over both the Swarovski and the Zeiss. (Although it would be inferior to both during normal daylight conditions.)

Not sure how available these units are in Slovenia, nor whether their use is allowed.

The Zeiss Victory HT is smaller, lighter and somewhat less expensive than the z8i.
In what way would he benefit??

Night vision and thermal optics are allowed here but only for hunting wild boar at night. On still hunts I prefer to hunt roe and red deer and these are not allowed to be hunted past legal hunting time which is 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before sunrise. Roe and red deer can be hunted succesfuly during dusk and dawn and sometimes even during daylight in the right peaceful spots so in regards to this I prefer traditional riflescopes.
I also like hunting wild boar on driven hunts so this is why I bought the Z8i as it has enough field of view for this task.

I forgot to mention I also own a Zeiss Victory HT 8×54 binoculars and this one is in it's own league during dusk. Much brighter than any riflescope I ever owned.
