Fully Digital Deer Stalking

You cant really blame a product for that we have had the same issues with Pulsar and other top brands not working out of the box
thats where the warranty gets a good test.
since pard uk set up this year we have had no issues with getting things replaced.
pard certainly have a battle to win back Hik and DNT customers
If you want to send me one to demo I will put it through its paces and give you an honest review on here and FB.

I am not knocking CS, but I always smile when I hear the word "Honest" in a review. I think i saw too many cowboy movies when I was a kid, with Honest John's all in one cure everything elixir for 10 cents and such the like.
But back to pard. I have obviously been lucky with my old add on. Must be 6 years old now.
I hope the scope I have is as good. Mind you, that may be 6 years old before I get my.stock back. I digress.

I don’t sell optics or get paid to review them. I am lucky in that I don’t need to rely on sponsorship, paid promotions or endorsements to make a living.

I do get to see more different types if rifle and optics than most people can ever dream off though so I do tend to offer opinions based on first hand experience of these.

For example I have probably help zero, setup and test 100 plus thermal and digital scopes in the last 12 months alone.

If @Optics world sent me a demo scope then it would be used, stalked with and then returned. If the product is good then I would say so but if it’s poor then they would need to be prepared for that. If they want to do this then they can PM on here.

I follow your posts on here and fully believe you. Russ Douglas is another one who always says "honest" review, and I watch his videos and take note of his recommendations as well.
As said, it was not a pop at you. Just something that makes me smile,

I stalk/fox digital and have done for the past couple of years or more. I don't particularly like doing it that way as I am not very tech-savvy, but I do it for a reason that I have not read on this topic so far. Weight! I am 86 years old and still able to get out into the field on a fairly regular basis. In order to still enjoy my sport and be useful to my farmer friends, I shoot with the lightest rig possible. Tikka .243 Lite with a Pard Nightstalker attached backed up with an old Pulsar thermal spotter. Quad sticks, rifle, binos, spare batteries and ammo, and I am fixed up for whatever conditions mother nature throws at me by day or night. Long may it continue.

Fair play to you 👍 long may it continue and I hope to be in the same position when I get to your age :)

I honestly laugh at all this digital lark, warranty and issues out of the box🙈

In the 25 years I’ve been kicking about in the keepering and stalking world, I’ve never heard of a Schmidt bender going wrong, I think you lot just like wasting money 😂😂😂

I repeat earlier statements ...back in your cave Lee  🥰 Also noting that most of your career was before power was readily available :)😛💋

For stalking Batteries fail, a Schmidt doesn’t
Dont disagree with you mate. I prefer the man bun gun and Swaro Z6I for deer stalking as I much prefer having suitable light to see whats going on and the image in the Z6I wont be beaten by any digital scope. But...its no use at night when I'm shooting foxes.

Different tools for different jobs, however if you had 1 rifle and 1 scope and shot deer and foxes...well day/night scopes win hands down.

I’m old fashioned I still use a lamp, works a treat still

I am fully digital. My first spotter had to go away to be fixed twice. That was probably 15 years ago. Quality seems to have improved. So far, only one of my scopes had to go back for a mechanical not electronic issue fixed under warranty a few years later.

Cost wise a new Zeiss, swaro, S&b has got to be north of 3k.
A Hik Alpex without the ballistic stuff is £400.
Yes the glass is not as good. Yes you do need to remember to charge the battery. And yes in a dark woodland or last light, it will knock the socks off the glass scopes.
So say somebody has £3,200. They spend the £400 on the alpex and put the rest in the bank. They can afford to buy 8 scopes for the same money over the years.

I sold my swarovski because for me, digital is better for my stalking, and it is only going to get better.
I would imaging long-range goats or deer in the daytime then glass would be better. But as I shoot no more that 150 yards. Meh, figital works for me.
I did splash out on the ballistic calculator so I could only afford 3 and a half scopes for the price of one higher scope. But I like my toys.
Like electric cars, digital scopes are not for everyone. Just about 80%and rising which is why the likes of Zeiss are reportedly pulling out of the market and I bet Swarovski are worried.

I am in both camps having both decent glass and an Alpex A50E. Benefits to both but agreed on the point that digital does what glass cant. Im happy out to 300 on the deer so much prefer the Swaro. However of the 4 fallow ive shot in the last couple of weeks only 1 was shot with glass and the others with digital.

Have an Alpex lite on my Munty/Fox rifle. First/last light capability beats my Swaro 8x50 or Meopta R2. Even with its reduced sensor size. The original Alpex 50 I had was even better.

I'm a recreational stalker so prefer using glass as part of the experience of the trip out........but when previously asked to remove a number of Muntjac on a permission, used the Alpex.

That experience, makes me think that if I had to shoot professionally with quotas for stuff like Fallow, I suspect it would be a very sensible choice to use digital exclusively.....would increase opportunities to get stuff on the floor surely?

Interesting thread - however, totally out of character I sit somewhere in the middle. Love Digital - have a thermal spotter and 3 digital scopes (007/008P and a Zulus) on different rifles but also have glass on the heavier stuff (plus collars for the Pard 007 - I’m no fool).
Sooo - does that make me odd or have I just too many rifles?
Nah, I didn’t think so either….
