What is happening with Stalking Directory?

It seems to me many good people who have always added to Stalking Directory have, by their own volition, left the Forum.

If we look historically, many former members are no longer involved here. That is to be expected. A natural attrition of you will.

This is different.

How do I know?

Because I have email contact with them.

Email contact has been encouraged by SD as the SD directory, quite rightly, does not wish to pay the cost of hosting pictures/photos via private messages

I have enquired from these people via email as to why they had not been visible on the forum (I was mostly concerned in case they had been ill or died- though if they were dead how would I know? )

What I got back was most concerning vis-a-vis Stalking Directory

I will not go into details here as to their response as it would not be appropriate but suffice to say they no longer wished to be involved with the Stalking Directory

I do hope this thread is not stopped /censored (which may be a large part of the issue) might we discuss this matter in an open and honest way ? (Which a main tenet of any "Forum"

Personally I think the foum has improved over the last year. For a while there was far to much trolling but now its a better place than many of the Facebook forums

interesting, but given the membership the sd has, there will be people who leave for personal reasons clearly this is to be expected. As a relatively new member I enjoy the site and it’s membership. So unless you can name names and instances, compared to membership it means little to anyone except those concerned. So as a junior member compared to yourself who is privy to reasons given that you mention what is your opinion please

I’ve only been using the site a few months. I generally enjoy the content. Lots of good info in the old content also. There seems to be the expected “know it all’s” and rude contributors but they are thank fully in the minority.

My personal view is that stalkers are quite personal people (myself included) and we are chucked in here on SD with people we don't know, people we don't especially like... or like but fewer and it's natural that some will leave, some will take a break and others will never come back. Can’t say I’ve particularly noticed a lot of recent departees.

Sure, there are some names from the past that either no longer post, or post infrequently, but I wouldn’t say the ratio of those has changed unduly.

Compared to “the old days” there are a lot more ways now of keeping in touch now, such as Facebook and WhatsApp, and as a result sites like this do have a habit of drifting into or out of favour.

Of course there are threads which seem like the epitome of the pointless argument, and which lead you to question the sanity of those who partake in them (Ivermectin anyone?), but thankfully they are largely in the minority.

As to the hints in the OP of some kind of general malaise, if that truly is the case it seems the cause is that obscure than none here can identify it.
