So, what’s your claim to fame?

I was on TV once when protesting (marching on the highway) against the ban on private ownership of self-loading rifles.

May have been on twice now I think about it as did the same for handguns.

Had a uncle who was in the battle at Rorkes Drift and won a VC. When I was a young lad watching Zulu mum said you have a uncle who was in this battle, I thought mum was teasing me, many years later my sister did a family tree and turns out she wasn't teasing.
Here's his wikipedia Robert Jones (VC) - Wikipedia

Oh forgot to say my sister and I went out to Zululand in 2016 and visited Rorkes Drift, we met a descendent of one of the chiefs a chap called Lindizwe Ngobese who gave a presentation about the battle including the Zulu chants, it gave me goose bumps how powerful they are, must of been scary as hell with thousands of Zulu's chanting.
For me it was a very emotional visit, I shook hands with Lindizwe and you could see the respect we had for each other my sister said afterwards.
Also Lindizwe told me he had met descendants of Hook who also won a VC and they were not happy how he was betrayed in the film as a malingerer, a fact he said was completely untrue.

Wow!
Jones was 21 years old, serving as a private in the 2nd Battalion, 24th Regiment of Foot (later The South Wales Borderers), British Army in the Anglo-Zulu War. At Rorke's Drift he and Pte. 593 William Jones were posted in a room of the hospital facing the hill.

The two men kept up a steady fire against enormous odds. Then, while one worked to cut a hole through the partition into the next room, the other shot Zulu after Zulu through the loopholed walls, using his own and his comrade's rifle alternately as the barrels became too hot to hold from the incessant firing.

By their combined efforts the two men carried six patients to safety through the broken partition. A seventh, Sgt. Maxfield, was delirious and refused to be helped. When Robert Jones returned to take Maxfield to safety by force, he found him in his bed being stabbed by Zulus.[1] Robert Jones suffered four assegai spear wounds, was struck by a bullet, and had minor burns.

After the battle, General Sir Garnet Wolseley awarded Robert and William Jones the VC at Utrecht, Transvaal.

Many years ago there was a living history event at Balsover castle which covered warfare and craft from Romano Britain to current day servicemen.
One of Winston Churchill's descendents was there with others, displaying artefacts, papers, etc.

I used to Iive just out side Monmouth and now live a few miles from Peterchurch. I will pay my respects later. As an aside I love Martini's also!
No real claims to fame I am afraid!

If you haven’t already been, you really should visit the RRW museum in Brecon. Fantastic collection of rorkes memorabilia

I’ve saved the best until last:

Bollocked by Keeth Richard’s management for tucking into his post gig shepherd’s pie while he was otherwise engaged with a needle.
