Introduction

Hello everyone,

I've been going hunting since I was 5 years old with my dad or stepdad. As soon as I could legally shoot myself I picked up a bow and gun and have been even more obsessed since. I used to use compound bows but have since switched to traditional archery. I have a couple of vintage fred bear bows and a hoyt satori ILF bow that I now use exclusively for hunting. For rifle hunting I switch between my ruger 308 bolt rifle and my winchester model 94 30-30 depending on if I'm hunting woods or open fields. We have some pretty amazing hunting here in Michigan and look forward to joining the conversation and learn from you all and share what I've learned myself so far as well.

No bows over here, I've a sako 85 in .308 and a weatherby vanguard meateater edition in .243 for deer and a 12g huglu and .410 webley & Scott for birds and rabbits

That sounds like a great gear set. What kind of terrain do you typically hunt in? It's a mixed bag here of dense swamp, open farm field, and hardwood/conifer forests

Sounds ideal, small woodland and arable fields though I do fancy a trip to the Highlands at some point
What game are you after usually?

Right now it's rifle season for whitetails and all of October was bow season so I've been concentrated mainly on filling my two buck tags. I got an 8pt Friday evening so one more tag to go! I also like to hunt partridge, squirrel, and rabbits. Been on a bear hunt once but never got lucky enough to see one. I'd love to hunt out west in the US for elk someday.

It's been a good season so far. Made a new hunting buddy and he's been generous enough to let me hunt his 120acres with him. I've seen the biggest bucks of my life out there in bow. If I don't get one with the rifle I'll be back in December to try with the stick and string.

Hi Jeremy
I hunt mainly Fallow Deer and Muntjac (Fallow open season 1st August to 30th April) Muntjac have no close season as they are aseasonal, I'm retired so i hunt 2 or 3 days a week.

P.S. Fallow Buck open season 1st August to 30th April, Doe's 1st November to 31st March
