The Croydon Cat Killer

well done foxes, if more rural foxes behaved the same the song birds would sing louder
Feral cats... would you (sic) take one?

Genuine question. Ive seen a couple on a permission. Not entirely convinced the murdering bassard wasnt also going home somewhere as an ‘adorable’ pet.

are you asking if i would shoot a cat?
Not you personally. More of a wider question on whether they should be culled if they are decimating songbird/ground nesting birds.... should have worded betterer!

Not referencing about the famous SD big cats either....

in that case yes, every cat out after dark should be shot. if people want one keep it in doors

I'm not sure that foxes routinely kill cats but the odd one certainly will. Years ago there was one particular fox that had been seen taking small cats and kittens which I had to deal with. There were the remains of several cats in the area where the fox laid up, I got the fox and the cat killing stopped.

A mate of mine once dug a litter of cubs and found 26 cat collars in and around the earth

Which is what they did. I wasn't aware that foxes routinely lick carcasses and pick up experimentally several times. Some interesting photos of skin with lots of small pucnture wounds in it.
I’ve seen foxes mouthing chickens after they’ve fed up on one or two ,carrying them to different spots for caching before finding the right spot .
The surgical evidence is due to foxes ,like a few other canines ,chewing meat with side of mouth down to a joint .Carcass licking isn’t unique to foxes ,cats do it ,my lurcher used to lick fox carcasses pre ban .
Only ever fox ,cat interaction I’ve seen was decidedly one sided with the cat chasing the fox down a lane and out of sight years ago .
Im no cat lover but we did have one when I was still at home and it was this cat ,nipper ,that chased the fox that was eating his food.
I think it would take a very determined hungry fox to kill a healthy adult farm cat .City pampered things might be different .

Just addressing the 'time and resources wasted" comments. There is a potential link between animal and human abuse, which was part of the reason for conducting the PM.

Any examination of the wound sites on the carcass and subsequent dna matching may have found Fox saliva (and dna ) making the enquiry a whole less expensive and time consuming for the “authorities”

A bit of lateral thinking by the chief investigator instead of assuming a deranged human cause would have helped ,,,,

I think that the police had dismissed it about 3 years ago. This might have been a purely vet investigation, although part funded by the Met

Can you put the fox back please? 🤔

Here in Bavaria it is allowed to shoot all cats found to be 300 metres or more from a residence they are legally classed as feral. Then again as cats can carry C19 according to the ex spurts I had better begin the cull. Here kitty kitty.

Excellent for the 243 owner then 😂

Last year I got a call from one of my farmers to say he had watched a fox kill his farm cat. On speaking to him he confirmed the cat was old and they had been fighting over the cats food dish. When he went out to intervene the cat ran off pursued by the fox who then attacked and killed it. I took three foxes off the farm over the next two weeks which kept the farmer happy but now he wants them wiped out . 🙄
