Celebration towing?

First powered vehicle I ever drove. Family friends’ farm halfway up on the side of the Black Mountains.

First instruction, clutch down and push the gear lever to S.

Second instruction push or pull the gear lever to any of the numbers.

Third instruction slowly lift foot off clutch.

Magic memories!

I taught my son to drive on my one a few years ago…he absolutely loved it.

Our friend's one was the TVO version. Father acquired an early petrol TE20 with the Continental engine rather than the Standard. That one is now with a blacksmith friend down near Leatherhead. I still have the 35 we changed it for...which had the two stage clutch and a Fore end loader...although we swapped the four cylinder for a 3 cylinder Perkins engine after a few winters trying and frequently failing to start it! And I took the fore end loader off when I bought the little Merlo telehandler.

I don’t think every yoof will be rushing out to hitch up an Ifor Williams…it was a bit silly that someone that passed at one point could tow but not others.

One of the few sensible things I’ve seen happening in recent years! We need less nanny state things, not more!

All the hardcore trailer towers should try reversing a rear wheel steer thwaites dumper with a dolly trailer - that will mess even hardcore drivers up!!

I’ll raise you a set of twin staggered rollers on the back of a tractor, that’s a man’s game!

The kids on tractors should really be addressed .Like a fecking steam rally here at harvest times and groves in the tarmac where the blighters are tanking on round blind corners on small lanes .
How can it be right a 17 year old can drive a 10 ton tractor then pull another 15 + behind it .

The trailer rules were stupid before. I was allowed to tow a massive 1400kg caravan behind a caddy van but couldn’t tow the same caravan behind a discovery. Which is safer do you think?

It was a stupid EU rule, not based on a high accident rate or any kind of statistical evidence. Losing it is one of the benefits of brexit in my opinion.

Have had a P3 converted TED, a TVO TED, and still own a TEA straight petrol…absolutely live a fergie! The 35 is far superior with its two stage live drive clutch…but the wee grey fergies are just so loveable!

Did an advanced driving course for work once.
When we got to the trailer (reversing there of) - the instructor got out, unhitched the trailer (single-axle) and parked it by hand.

Many moons ago a lad in our diving club did this with a dive boat aboard the trailer. Inevitably the first dive of the day was to tie a rope to the trailer!

Gave everyone watching in Brixham a laugh.

Couldn’t possibly comment on superiority of the 35. Got an old grey fergie 794 plough that I always think would go better with a grey beast…. But no space in the shed!
