As a teenager I did DD relatively often ca. 18 mile home trips involved from Brum to Cov this was way before the "blow into this sir era" then one night I was stopped by plod well cut and the sergeant gave me such a bol[[ing that I slunk home and the shock value worked as I have never DD,d since. Never ever did drugs as they scared the bejesus out of me even when it was all new. Some on SD have sinned but learnt.

This is a public forum monitored by the police 😳

Its hard enough to get a license when you've no convictions for anything , but can you print the police reply,
A mate applied for a shotgun cert a few years ago, he was honest on the forms but forgot to mention something he got done for when he was young, around 18 he's now 65
and they refused him for that, and that was TWP.

I Can't understand why you are on a shooting forum bleating "Poor me" :cry:about the laws set down to prevent guns falling into the hands of of unsound owner ?? Your reaping your own rewards mty I'cant even say good luck as I have Zero tolerance having lost one son due to the actions of drug/drink drivers .

That went down a little harder than I expected. Cheers to the lovely bunch of perfect human beings who judged rather than just offering a helpful opinion lol.

Thanks to those of you that actually gave useful answers, much appreciated! I think I'll carry on going through the gun club route, I've spoken to the owner of the club and he knows about my past - he thinks that with time, education and training I may be able to obtain a license. I just thought I'd post here to see if anyone had been in a similar situation and what their outcome was.

Thanks for taking the time to type all that up, much appreciated. As you said bad company and bad choices, all my own responsibility. I know that they have just appointed a new FEO in my area, as you mentioned I may look at reaching out to them and speaking to them about it before making the application. Thanks for the advice
Frankly speaking you got off lightly pal.
There used to be a regular contributor on this site who went under the name of Roedinator. Roedinator was a great guy and an absolute gent who helped no end of new shooters and stalkers get into the sport. He was a hard working family man who worked long unsociable hours so as to be able to provide a good home for his wife and children, but he still made time to help others. It was his dream to make the English shooting team and he finally achieved his goal.
Then one night after he had just finished work and was making his way home some drunken waste of oxygen who was also under the influence of illegal drugs decided to overtake a lorry and collided with the vehicle that Roedinator was travelling in killing him and seriously injuring his workmate. The prison sentence that this scumbag got was no way long enough and no doubt he is back out walking the streets. Whether he has turned his life around, who knows, but having seen too many wasters like that I doubt it.

Now it's not too late to make a go of it, but I think you will probably have to be very patient and prove yourself if you want to be granted a FAC.
