Sling advice

I have a decent but standard sling on my rifle. It's a heavy barreled stainless Sako with aT8 mod on it. The problem I'm having is that it's extremely top heavy because of the mod & bipod and tips over backwards off my shoulder.
Any suggestions for a better designed one please.

Try muzzle down, as VSS says. You soon get used to it.

Used to have a T8 on my .308 they are a brick ,good but a heavy brick.
Muzzle down for now but maybe look at an Atec or Ase mod a bit lighter

Get Z Aim Pro sling. One of the best things I've ever bought

Barrel down or try a z-aim or that style.
I have one for my second rifle. But only use it fully when dragging. With a bag, bino harness and dog lead, things gets complicated when I want to take a layer off.

Z- aim really good or the roe tec is similar and does the same both will help though

Z-aim are good, but if it is possible on your stock cup swivels fitted to the l/h side ( if right handed ) will allow the gun to lay flat diagonally across your back.
My .222 varmint is a heavy beast at 15lbs in a GRS stock fitted with the cup swivels and it makes it far more manageable & comfortable.
The Z-aim is good, but I found fumbling for the clip underneath bino/spotter strap awkward at times when a shot suddenly presents itself plus the unclipped strap would invariably wrap itself around the scope as I lifted the gun onto my sticks.

Using your current sling add one of these HARPSOE SGS

Purchased one last year and now done over 100km with rifle secured, no slippage.
Probably the best shooting accessory i have bought.
Pal got one after seeing mine and he thinks the same too.
Does exactly what it says on the tin.

This is the exact advice I was looking for. I think the first thing I need to do is get a Picatinny rail for the bipod. I can then take it off when out foxing at night with the sticks and quickly put it back on when I'm sat out at dawn and dusk. This will take a bit of the top weight off too.
The Z Aim sling looks like a great solution but I don't think it would suit my mooching with lots of barbed wire fences and fences to get through etc.
I can also see 3.5mag's point about the extra straps as I too carry a spotter and fox calls around my neck.
I really appreciate the comments though so please keep them coming.

Having an easily removable bipod will certainly help. I've done away with both mod and bipod for stalking, and it makes the rifle much more comfortable to carry, and gives greater flexibility in carrying positions. Either muzzle up or down or slung across my back when dragging.

(I do still use mod and bipod on my other rifle, for foxing and park culling, but I'm not walking miles with that).

This wouldn't be without mine now. Had same problem on my t3x varnint. Absolutely solid yet so quick to get rifle shouldered with practice. Easy to switch between rifle. Best £££ I've spent lately.
