Could have sworn you were bigger…

Seen a decent muntie on my last three visits, but with it jumping out of the hedge winding me the first time, 500m away the second time and over the fence the last time, today was the day - well it might have been.

124m with a 15mph cross wind, my 30.06 didn’t let me down. Dropped to the shot, taking out the top of the heart.

Perfect buck specimen, but not sure he’s the one - time will tell if he has an older brother.

Know for one thing - he will be damn good eating. 554147CC-CD6B-49A1-B6F4-1BF499A2E032.webp5511E017-C58F-4C4A-BE6F-EF48DDDFEF2B.webpD1D798AA-3100-46BD-9DDB-C69DD6B9ADCD.webpDBF484E6-0764-4146-A030-7626441B1C0C.webpDB1E2008-C5E3-411A-B61D-D1E856552DA2.webp

Cracking wee buck! I've yet to shoot a muntjac or CWD. One of these days I'll get it organised though. None up here, so it'll be a good excuse for a roadtrip

You need Bedford ,Oxford area Stu .I’m sure someone will offer this soon .If not get down here for a muntie and poach a chink on the way back .They are very easy to be honest .A big let down for those used to working for a beast .

I really just want to tick them off my list, to be honest. And I wouldn't mind a couple or three muntjac for the freezer! I've eaten the venison only once, and it was absolutely superb! I shoot mainly roe in my neck of the woods, and the topography can make them a real challenge at times. An 'easy' deer would be a rare treat

Chinese water deer is my go to if I want to really enjoy venny with muntie close second .
If your serious about a trip mate I could organise a CWD after you’ve had enough of Munties 😁
