Owned by a .460 Weatherby Magnum

Had a go with one of these at the Monmouth Shoot yesterday and got owned!

Only two minor injuries to Gyr and CSL, hope the stalkers kisses heal soon. That 460 Weatherby Magnum was some tool:doh:

Excuses:

a) I volunteered to go first. If I'd have gone second I'd have done what you did and put the safety of my head above getting a good sight picture! :D
b) I did question the eye relief but Martin assured me it would be fine... with a smirk on his face :suss:

Case next to a .30-06

The result
Monmouth 007 (Large).webp

Come on GYR... show us yours! :D

Well it certainly put it's mark on him!

My little 9.3x74r is far more refined than that brute. Mind you if I hade an elephant or a rhino charging me as long as I could hit it with the first round I think that I would prefer the .460wthby.

Looks like he stitched you up with the feet position prior to the shot......?

Got to defend the owner jabali. I've never fired anything larger than my 30.06 so followed his instructions and felt fine with it. By the way, he offered everyone a shot, never took a penny. I know those rounds were costing him about £6 a pop.

As above, it wasn't a wind up. It happened because I underestimated the amount of recoil due to being blissfully ignorant of the fact that the thing was producing near nitro express levels of energy!

Saying that, having watched both myself and gyr get caught out buckup did hold his head back away from the scope! ;)

It was extremely generous of Martin to let us have a go and I was greatful for the chance, it's not often you get a go with a cannon like that and was worth a few drops of blood. :D

Strangely enough, apart from me, Gyr and buckup, everyone else chickened out after watching!

Good of you to come back with a smile Alex. Sure I kept my face well clear after seeing you and Chas dripping claret on the floor. No point getting older if you don't get wiser.:D

Anyone who was there could see the owner Martin was one of those who just lives for shooting. His enthusiasm was infectious. Such a genuine nice guy.
