paul lane rifle club huddersfield 245 quid, but there could be 1 closer that would cost more but you would save money on fuel. stav

"Lucky"? I think you mean knowledgeable and skillful....:D

Ah, can see how it could be misconstrued. What I mean't was lucky in the "lucky it's over and done with sense" and not "jammy to have scrapped through and passed" sense.

Though I have to say looking through some of the questions - i fail to see their relevance to making you a better, more efficient, safer, stalker. But i have my doubts about the usefulness of the DSC1 as a whole anyway. I'm only doing it to access more land ( or even some land ). It's a bit like the British Standards etc, if the clients didnt know you could do the job properly they wouldnt employ you to do it. But because some firms have them everyone has to have them and it makes jobs for the boys and money for the auditors, They've got you by the balls ! And where they lead we have to follow. Just my opinion and i'm sure many will disagree

Andrew

But thanks to all for their advice

Scrun,

Jelen have quite a swizzy set up on their website (Jelen Deer- Committed to excellence) with interactive mock tests etc. that may be as good a bet as a manual (and easier on the eyes) for getting through the written parts of the test. You can subscribe for a month and use it as much as you need - I found it useful. You could also purchase their CD of the course material - there's often an auction on Fleabay for it.

I used britishdeer.co.uk - all you need to know £25 for 3 months access or £20 if you are a BASC member

Dont waste your money on the Jelen CD or the Jelen or Britishdeer.co.uk websites.

There question banks are out of date and even tell you the wrong answers are right!

Just ask on SD for the answers you will get the correct answers and for free!

The upto date question banks are freely available from the DMQ website.

Go through them and answer what you can then just ask.

If you are going to get a CD get the BDS one it is far better than the others.
I know its £50 but it does include a PDF of the BDS DSC1 Manual which is £30 on its own the Donnington Deer Management one is £26 so add that to either the the Jelen CD / Website or the britishdeer.co.uk website and you have about the same cost.

At least the BDS product has the correct and up to date information and is not fully of irrevelent or duff info.

Very worrying info. Can anyone else confirm or deny this ? I'd be p*ssed if i'd spent good money on a cd and an exam only to fail because i'd been provided with the wrong answers.

Would you please give some direct examples to qualify this statement - it seems somewhat all encompassing and you are defaming two reputable companies without apparent just cause. Having just used the Jelen collateral, I have no complaints, nor concerns. As per my earlier post the interactive testing module on the Jelen site is an excellent tool for practicing the tests.

Yes, examples please, none of the information on britishdeer.co.uk was incorrect as far as I can see and was very useful indeed.

I have used the jelen cd and have found it to be very informative a very good cd. I have also used the new ultimate deer data cd and that is very good to. I'm not sure why anybody would say the jelen one is no good.

Send me a PM with a postal address, you can have mine for the cost of postage. I will not be needing DSC 1 for hunting Thai ladies.

I also take exception to the comments about Britishdeer.co.uk I found it completely accurate, comprehensive and a real complement to the Manual. If it is inaccurate then the examiners clearly must have missed all of my wrong answers when I passed my DSC 1 a couple of months ago.
