Wanted: Stalking Options in the Highlands

I’m hoping someone can recommend a stalker in the Highlands. I want to take my son to bag his first Red Stag. Quite open to try most locations. I’m trying to find a patient stalker who is happy with a experienced and safe target shooter, but very little stalking experience.

I did have a package set up on Oban where we’d spend a few days trying for a Stag and then cross over and try for the hind cull, but unfortunately the estate isn’t taking stalking forward next season.

Any recommendations are very much appreciated.

I'm just asking as a couple of years ago I had a guest turn up and he expected his 12 year old son to shoot a stag.

A second for Winston, Paul (the chap who’ll likely take you out) is really good a finding what you want, be it a cull stag or something nicer.

Most estates will let stalking through their factor/estate office, quite a few will only book a 2/3 of days at a time though. Have you a preferred area? Hill or woodland/not fussy? Cara at international hunting Scotland (they are on social media) will sort you with something, Pete Swales’ successor so they take a lot of stags across the highlands. One of my mates ghillies for her on occasion.

I'd recommend Davie Urquhart/ Skye game, he's got a lot of ground and some great animals, still had availability very recently.
