The Stalking Show @ Staffordshire Show Ground April 2022

They were there I saw no Q’
I did look in on the med Cert stand and spoke of my good experience with them and also of the poor experiences of some on here? Interesting!

BC

BASC was there, in force. NGO was also there, as was BDS, and Gamekeepers' Welfare Trust. Didn't see any sign of SD, CA or SGA.

Myself and the boss had a really good time there, even though i managed to hobble about with a crutch.
Had a go on the shooting simulator and had my butt whupped by the Mrs on both duck and boar... (i didn't have my glasses on, ok)?? 😁
Hope this runs next year.
Thanks to the organisers.

I treated myself to one of Ogdens new Autoslips, a great bit of kit to hold a rifle safely and discreetly behind the seats of the truck.
Good call. Phil was telling me demand for these has been amazing and I can see why. Original, practical, well thought out, well made, and very reasonably priced (I think I just described all his gear!)

I really enjoyed the show. ISTM that every aspect of stalking was covered, and with people there to share their expertise as well as to showcase their wares.
The sense of space and the on-site catering were really good, too, as was the (free) parking.
I got the impression that the people running the stands were liking the experience too, because most of the people visiting them knew what features they wanted in their kit, and what questions to ask, and because the very modest cost of stand space and facilities compared to the BSS enabled small firms to be present and larger firms to show off more of their wares.

My only complaints are:
1. How noisy it was. Something about the accoustics in the main hall, often made it necessary to shout, while the frequent tannoy announcements were indescifrably distorted, making them pointless and thus irritating. All shows are a bit like this, of course, but I've never felt quite so drowned in noise before.
2. There were some ventilation issues, with smoke from food vendors' charcoal fires sometimes forming a fog above the stands and literally giving the show its own unique atmosphere!

Been at the show today. Enjoyed it as did the wife. Not a massive show but enough to interest me. Tried several new scopes/binoculars/thermal scopes. Well impressed with the new Zeiss 10 X 40 SLP binoculars. Not available buy yet but so light and bright.
Well worth the £12 entry fee and it's on again here next year and I suspect it will be larger judging by the numbers here today.
Just got back and as you say the Zeiss 10 x 40 are very impressive; preferred them to the Zeiss 8 x 40. I was rather surprised when the guy on the stand said they were made in Japan and not Germany.

Also took a look at the Swaro 8.5 x 42 but think I will, go for the Zeiss in June / July.

PS: Not a name-dropper but while I was looking at the Swaro's Vinnie Jones stood next to me; think he was a prospective buyer.

1 nil could be just unlucky, 2 nil, ohhh mate the walk of shame

Didn't get to it as went north for a do on the bucks, but from whats been written here it sounds like a decent focused show, similar to what Kelso was when that ran.
Hopefully it won't suffer the same problems an will grow into a larger affair.
Cheers Jimmy

Nothing like Kelso! much bigger and most of the glass and rifle manufacturers there along with everything else to do with stalking.

Not that I am a Harkila fan but its the first time I have seen them at a show!

Proper show without the hot tubs and candy floss!

Well done to David and his team
