Are there any reloading die and press manufacturers in europe?

I have been waiting on some parts from USA die manufactures for months now! Are there any dies made in
Europe? As this might be a good alternative.

There is the Wamadet press.

Helston Gunsmiths sell them, and I believe they are made in the UK.

I'm not aware of anyone making dies, but there probably are some German or Swiss manufacturers doing so. Perhaps not on a commercial basis though?

A very good press, I've been using 1 for 15 years and it's never let me down. Beauty of it is it's free standing so you can set up on the dining room table instead of having to bolt the press to a bench. What dies are you wanting?

I spoke to Helston gunsmiths about three weeks ago with the intention of ordering ten Wamadet presses . Unfortunately there is no stock and no intention to re instate production in the near future. yours respectfully Mike Norris Brock and Norris custom Rifles

That's quite disappointing. I'd vaguely considered saving up for one.

Am I confusing Wamadet with the chaps who were always to be found in a corner of the Bisley Pavilion during Pistol 19** and more recently the Phoenix trade shows selling highly engineered swaging equipment??

NDFS, that's Jim Goodwin, used to make dies but truth be told I found them inferior to the RCBS or Lyman product that was the two big contenders then. If you had given me a set for free I would have refused it.

Here in Leicester, believe it or not, we had proper single and double cavity bullet mould makers. Not round ball but proper pistol bullets with grease grooves and the lot. They had just stopped making when I started shooting in the mid 1970s. It was run by two blokes.

There was also, elsewhere in UK, Prime Reloading who made a very heavyweight press, and maybe an early carousel type progressive, and also their 9mm Parabellum decapper...using a steel pin...for Berdan primed cases. Essentially it just smashed through the base of the case leaving one large, and oval shaped, central hole. So that then Boxer primers could be substituted.

In Australia, no less, there was Simplex that seemed in its dies and its press to be a direct Lyman copy. Except it was finished in blue crinkle. I have a Simplex press as its benefit was a wider gape than the then current model RCBS Rockchucker. So I found it an advantage for "long" cartrides such as 270 Winchester and longer.

Bowman made reloading presses for shot gun cartridge and ever now an again the few provincial gun auctions left here in UK will feature one of these by now well unloved, grimy and incomplete "treasures"...

Enfield I am told that the NDFS business was sold on twice following the demise of Jim Goodwin with the intention of putting dies back into production but nothing has really come of it so far to my knowledge. I believe the "company" name and rights if you can call it that is currently owned by Welsh Arms. NDFS really cocentrated on the manufacture of dies for obsolete calibres though they did produce dies for the more common modern cartridges. I have a set of NDFS .38/.357 dies that I have owned for about 30 years. While they don't have the finish of the likes of RCBS they have always worked well. I bought them because I wanted a tungsten carbide resizing die at the time when TC was just coming in. In actual fact Jim told me he used titanium carbide instead of tungsten carbide in his die inserts.

I hope your Simplex press uses the standard 7/8th x 14 dies as many of their earlier press used a thread size peculiar to that company. I came across a set of their "odd" dies in a gun auction a few years back. Without the press they were totally useless.

That's a fact worth mentioning. The Simplex presses and dies that LOOK as if they are the same as the Lyman Tru Line (uses dies of the old Lyman 310 tool size) aren't the same thread. The Simplex ones are some old pipe fitting thread or somesuch.

My Simplex presses are standard 7/8" x 14. The first one looked like it was a "knock off" of the RCBS Rockchucker but in fact had a lesser height window than did my old Rockchucker. My current Simplex appears to be a "knock off" of the Lyman 'O' Mag except that it is blue and doesn't have the Lyman name cast into it.

Can you guide me to the English version please? I couldn't find it.
They seem to have some very nice stuff. If only they weren't so 'French' oriented. I hadn't even heard of them previous to your post. If they presented themselves in English they would get so much more attention.
