Any stalkers in the North Midlands?

I'm 40 and have been hunting for a long Time, but stalking is still fairly new to me. I did DSC1 last year, and hoping to learn as much as I can about deer and meet friends with similar interests. I love muntjac!

If you need a hand with anything deer related in the Midlands, (for example, if you would consider taking along an observer or have someone help with carcass prep or woodland mantenence etc), please do get in touch.

It is near on impossible around here. There is one particularly good estate with a cracking head forester / stalker but it is paid stalking.

You may need to accept it takes a long time to get into free stalking, trust to be gained and all that.
There are a relatively small number of individuals that try to steal permissions, and every one is viewed with suspicion due to that, amongst other reasons.
It wouldn’t be regular but if your happy to travel I will take you out, you can’t Nick my perm as I’m the farmer

No but he’d know the layout for an out of hours visit ,not trying to put you off ,just saying

Then he would likely bump into either myself or one of my mates, nothing hides from thermal and it’s surprising how often folk are about “out of hours”
I’m afraid the days of knowing the keepers habits and slipping on for a few behind his back are rapidly dissapearing, sim operated wildlife cameras, thermal, Cctv…..

I think its a great shame that people do these kind of things. I don't think I mentioned anything about asking for stalking though. If I were that way inclined (poaching), I live just half a mile from one of the most dense populations of deer that I know of. The only encroaching I do is taking pleasure in sitting a while and watching the animals with a thermal. Thanks both.

I assume you are by Cannock Chase. I’m near Uttoxeter but my stalking grounds are in Cambridgeshire and Scotland so probably not much use for you. You are welcome to pop round next time I’m skinning/butchering a deer if you like though

Yeah, nothing available locally, I’m over 2 hours to Cambridgeshire and nearly 5 to my Scotland syndicate!
