HIKMICRO GRYPHON GQ50L PRO

Very good image handles better than the pulsar and image is comparable the fusion gives the hik a slight edge. I’m only in Ruthin if you want to come and have a look.

Or the Pulsar PULSAR XQ35 LRF, am also curious on the Gryphon.
I've just had a GQ50L, XQ50F and an XQ35 out for a quick test. Both of the 50s give an incredible image and were picking a strong heat signature from sheep 1000m away. The Hikmicro gave a very slightly better image with a tiny bit more detail, however there wasn't much in it. The Hic thermal sits better in the hand. The XQ35 is superb value at £1000 less, it was also picking up the sheep at 1000m, but not showing anywhere near the detail. Still a top product considering the price

What’s the base mag on GQ50L like and is it fussy on focus? I had a mates ZEISS out the other day, really not fussy and good details on 1x where almost no pixelation. I found with the XQ35 I was always on the focus and struggling to ID antlers etc.

Base mag is 1. I've stalked with all of the Hik range and never generally move them from 2. Once set up I never touch the focus

OK this is sounding like a serious option then, the focus on the XQ was driving me nutty, fine for stationary but if you are stalking in you would be busy to the point of distraction.

Gryphon sits nicer in the hand than a Helion , it's interesting different user feedback, the Gryphon GQ is nice price wise for a 640 12 micron sensor. With no due respect to the product, ergonomically and build wise, there is a big difference between the two, one being totally plastic the other a full magnesium alloy shell...there's a lot of differences in there performance and design also.

Whats the background in the picture like with the gryphon and helion? Which model gives better detail of surroundings?

Helion 2 XP50 and XP50 Pro will render more overall background detail than anything out there..That goes for the Thermion 2 XP50 and Thermion Pro also. Although I recently acquired an iRAY TH50 for the purpose of comparison testing and the overall detail and image looked great, especially around housing and hard standing objects...until I got it out in the field and the targets turned into non descript blobs...

They all have there merits, the Gryphons strong point being pricing and 12 micron increasing detection range, plus the lrf option.
