removing broken case from die

Someone makes a kit with a piece that hooks over the case mouth and drags it out. I'm afraid I can't remember who. I suggest you phone Spud 1967 (shooting supplies) because I guess he would know.

What calibre?

You can buy case removal/extractor tools but it's also possible to do it with correctly sized bolt with nut & washer plus a couple of spanners.
It sounds like the case head has separated leaving only the calse walls, shoulder and neck jammed, I think.

I can see how that works down the barrel as it can get passed the end of the case but I dont think in a die it can. No body had this happen?

I assume it's stuck in a sizing die. Remove the decapping parts, and then I'd expect it to work.

I've only got an entire case stuck, which I got out with tap, threaded rod, nut and washers.

Thanks guys. Ive by luck come across Linus from Extreeme Ballistics. Hes building a semi custom stalking rifle for me. Texted him the question tonight and hes said bring it over tomorrow. Only 20 min away, but hows that for customer care . Got to say I can not recomend him enough!

For situations like this, I would inset a pipe tap of the appropriate size into the case and turn it into the case as much as I dared, letting it bite into the broken case. I would then smack the front end of the tap with brass rod and a mallet. The broken case would be dragged out by the teeth on the tap. I would use this method on stuck cases in rifles as well. ~Muir

i managed to wedge one in a die and found that you can turn it out on a lathe relatively easily….just take it easy one the last few thou and the remains fold up like paper that can be tweezered out.
