C50 vs Wraith ultra

Hello , I’m thinking of updating my nv and was going to order a c50 none wifi but have seen folk using the wraith and now can’t make my mind up . It’s for fox mainly at not to great a distance and prefer a wide field of view, Ps , if going with the wraith is the ultra much better than the older one’s as I’ve seen the older ones now on sale at greatly reduced prices? Cheers.

I have a wraith 4K and a C50.

There really isn't much between them and if you are shooting Fox at night at 150m or less then both are more than capable of doing the job.

I cant say anything about the Wraith ultra other than it looks like they had a load of the old wraith cases and to use them up they have dropped the Wraith 4K inner workings into those old cases. Nothing wrong with that but it is still just a wraith 4k....not sure why they think using the old case makes it an Ultra version.

Having said all of that, its at least £400 cheaper than the C50 so probably the sensible choice.

I haven't looked through the new wraith but have been a vocal fan of the HD version. However I bought the C50 and it is a much better unit to use especially with these old eyes. So much nicer having a big screen to look at. Best nv on the market for me for the price👍

Also consider the ease of mounting and eye relief. Nothing worse than the device being too high or too far away. C50 30mm rings you can't go wrong.

All the wraith models have tiny eye displays, 4K units are the worst performing NIGHT VISION units, 720 and 1080 perform a lot better .

The C50 blows the 4K out of the water in terms of low light, dusk and night vision performance , it also has much larger OLED display and much better reticule and PIP function, there is no comparison.

4K is excellent during the day and when digitally magnified during the day, but at night urggh, that eye display urrggh, them reticules urrgh..

I would also be very cautious about certain YouTubers and promoters stating they are the best night vision , full of the proverbial and just trying to move products ..

have no complaints with my ATN 4K pro day or night, with a srx laser torch can see further than i can shoot even with a .17hornet. current firmware is also very stable.

best bet is to look through as many as you can.

Do you happen to know when you expect c50’s back in stock?

ATN is dead in the water without a LASER IR, the C50 just eats any ambient light up, its vocation is dusk and night time because it's a night vision scope first and foremost, the ATN is a day scope first and foremost with nightvision ability...

Mr blackwood
a man who knows what he’s talking about 👍
What annoys me Dave, is the fact promoters are calling 4K units the best night vision, when it's the exact opposite, they offer the worst night vision performance, for me it's morally wrong doing that....over this last year I've really started to see through a lot of people...

Fair enough up close for ratting you will not beat the video quality from an ATN flooded with IR light, it's the best footage I have seen for this, but stretch it's legs without heaps of IR and there legs go all wobbly...

I’ll just put this on here again for anyone wondering how the C50 performs in darkness with a little ambient moonlight, this is nearly 1am in the morning. Once spotted with the thermal nearly everything I’ve shot I’ve been able to get the gun on the sticks and acquire it and have it in the cross hairs before flicking the torch on, no waving around trying to find it with a ton of laser blaring out, some nights better than others but there’s nearly always something to see.
The focus always needs adjusting between natural light and ir so that munty would have been considerably clearer if I’d have focused it for natural light, perfectly shootable (if it was a fox)
I’m finding this a real advantage and gives more time to prepare for a shot on foxy before you potentiality give yourself away with the glow of ir.

How do you guys compare the c50 to the infiray td50l , it is a bit cheaper but I have heard the daytime use is not as good but better at night.
I went with an open mind when I looked at both of them side by side, convinced I wouldn’t be buying either as I was happy with the 3 Pards living on my rifles.
There’s a few differences between the 2 units, more customizable rets on the C50, the PiP function on the C50 is a lot more user friendly, zoomable from 3.5 to 14 whereas the Iray only doubles what’s on the main screen x4 becomes x8 PIP and so on. The big difference and one of the deal breakers for me was the PIP reticle is just a plain cross that gets bigger and thicker when zoomed in, if your using mildots for air or rimfire this renders the PIP pretty useless on the Iray whereas on the C50 the ret is an exact image of the one on your main screen and although it gets bigger with zooming the reticle thickness stays the same, nice and fine for pinpoint placement on your target regardless of magnification.
The Iray didn’t deal with sunlight as well as the C50.
The Iray is lightest of the two.
The original Pulsar Stream vision app got some stick but the new version is very good.

Those differences considered I went for the Pulsar and don’t regret it.
